i have a 2005 double cab 4x4 with the factory unit. so i put in aftermarket 6x9's in the door and new 6 1/2's for the back doors but when i hooked everything up using the factory radio it sounded worse than than before even more so with the ipod hook up. what is the problem? is it the lousy factory radio or should i just hook up an amp to all speakers? HELP

I'm not an audio expert by any means, but I would say it's the crappy factory HU not being strong enough to push the new speakers....

Did you happen to look at the magnets on the back of the factory speakers? About the size of a quarter...... Very wimpy. Doesn't take a bunch of power to push those.

i do not want to lose the wheel controls as well as make my truck more prone to being broken into with an after market head unit

aftermarket speakers are made to amp the factory headunit governs that so u cant blow factory speakers but means to u that not even no where near enough power for them. and if you went aftermarket PAC makes a module so that u dont loose your steering controls however its like 80 bucks
