I pick up my new 2017 TRD Off-Road DC 6MT tomorrow - now that's a Taco Tuesday everyone can love!

I had a Leer cap on my 2000 base model 4x4 Taco, and they (Leer) treated me really well when I had an issue so I'd like to get another. My new Taco is coming with a factory roof rack, and I was curious if anyone had paired a factory roof rack with a cap and roof rack to make a sort of hybrid ladder rack. I figure 5' bed plus the roof rack would give me the length to at least throw a couple 12' boards up there when needed. I know this setup won't have the weight rating to hold any heavy loads, but like I said, I think it would be fine to hold the odd 2x12 here and there.

Has anyone done this? What roof rack system did you use, and how did the finished height of the shell rack match up to the factory roof rack?

Congrats on the truck! Subbed - I am trying to decide on a cab rack, and was hoping to get the OEM.

If anyone has pics of mismatched racks (different style racks on cab and shell) would be helpful also!
