This has got to be the best forum on the planet. If it can be done to a Tacoma, there seems to be someone here who has done it.

I am pondering the factory roof rack. One of my main purposes for it is to carry longer items, like an occasional ladder... I would like to put the foot of the item at the back of the bed, against the tailgate and then lean the item down over the top of the cab against the roof rack crossbar. Is the back crossbar on the roof rack back far enough to keep something carried like this from rubbing on the top of the cab? Thanks in advance for the replies.

It's not going to reach the rear crossbar. It will hit the back of the Cab.
