I'm very curious about this too. I have a ORDCLB being built on Monday and want to get it tinted ASAP as I live in AZ! Thanks in advance!

From what I understand you're right, no UV protection which also means it doesn't keep your truck any cooler. I put 20 on the front 2 windows, 30 on the back 2 windows and back glass and 70% on the windshield, all ceramic to keep the heat down as much as possible

Since mine came tinted, if I want to darken them, does it require to remove the original tint or apply on top of existing?
Also does it require to remove the door panels?

The windows that are “tinted” from factory are not film tints. They are privacy glass. Maybe the films mess with the windows (gets tight?) when it gets hot.

Are you talking about the rear windows? Those are privacy glass. Meaning the glass itself is treated to be dark. Not a film tint that you can just pull off.

I really need to get this done, too.

I thought I read somewhere in the literature that came in my trucks hyooge owners manual binder that the factory back & rear privacy glass was UV beneficial.

I’d like to match the look of this without killing my night vision.

Sorry just seeing this. How much should I expect to pay for the two front windows to be tinted?

According to Toyota, factory glass is as follows:

Rear Door (Access Cab, w/o Privacy): 70% Tint, 58% UV Reduction, 62% Heat Reduction
Rear Door (Access Cab, with Privacy): 20% Tint, 18% UV Reduction, 25% Heat Reduction
Rear Door (Double Cab, w/o Privacy): 70% Tint, 55% UV Reduction, 45% Heat Reduction
Rear Door (Double Cab, with Privacy): 20% Tint, 80% UV Reduction, 75% Heat Reduction
Back Window (w/o Privacy): 70% Tint, 44% UV Reduction, 53% Heat Reduction
Back Window (with Privacy): 20% Tint, 18% UV Reduction, 25% Heat Reduction

35% is not 50 state legal ohio legal is 50% and in my opinion not worth doing, which is why my rear doors and back window are 5% and fronts are 20%

If they look anything but clear, they're likely privacy.

I tint for a living and will try to answer some of the questions. each state's law is different, so make sure you check before doing anything if you have pass state inspection each year. no, the privacy dyed glass does nothing in all honesty for heat rejection or UV protection. tinting a sunroof and it shattering? that is something new to me. I have tinted every sunroof I have ever had and not once has it ever shattered. and if it did, the tint will hold it together anyway. putting a dark film on it will draw heat to it obviously, but I highly doubt it will shatter. and yes, always choose a ceramic or nano ceramic over a standard color stable film. the heat rejection alone is worth the extra money.
