Factory tint %

Just bought an 18 Silver Sport and must say Wow!
Great truck!
Does anyone know the factory tint % on the rears? Gonna try and match the fronts.. looks like 20 to me!

Had mine tinted recently, they put 32% on, it is a closer match than my 4Runner which had 20% in the front windows which was a little darker than the factory rears.

 

It is 20%. Tint the fronts 15% or they will appear lighter. The back of the truck is dark... The windshield let's tons of light in so to balance this effect and have them look identical go 15%. My bud does this and has a shop for 20 years I wouldn't steer you wrong. Here's a pic of mine. In sunlight it's a perfect match. I put light on in garage with is really bright to give you an idea what I mean.

It actually has 35 on the front now.. the dealer had it sent off and added.. far too light for me.. rears are spot on though..

In Carolina.. they do inspect.. but are some ways around it..

 

35 keeps it legal in your state. Idk if you have annual inspections in NC but 20 would fail where I live...

If you like tint just 5% everything but the front windows. I've done that in the past and been very happy with it.

I have a prescription for it. Any eye doctor will give you one. Just say you have light sensitive eyes and prescription eye glasses don't help all the time like when sun is blazing through driver window. To be honest, cops have not even bothered around here in years because Cheapest and easiest thing up here is fight the ticket and show up court day with a prescription.

 

I had 5% on 2 vehicles. It was BRUTAL AT NIGHT. And made side view mirrors useless at night.

 

Absolutely. I cant see a thing at night because my cap is tinted 5% all around. Kept my windows at 35% to avoid inspection issues. MA went with automated systems everywhere... I think they take pictures now and electronically check everything. Apparently it is impossible to cheat. Needless to say, I don't have a guy anymore to pass me for tint law stuff.

 

Makes sense. I had a friend that did that in New Hampshire where they don't allow any front window tint.
