Factory toe package

I have a 2004 Tacoma with the bigger 6 cyl I purchased as a certified Toyota. The window sticker said it had a tow package from the factory. It turns out it doesn't.
The dealer agreed to install a trans oil cooler as his expense and said that was the total tow package.

Can anyone tell me whether he is telling me the truth? If the factory tow package did include a bigger radiator, alternator and battery can I legally & safely tow up to 6000 lbs with only the oil cooler without ruining the truck?

Even with the tow package the max towing for the 1st gens are 5k.

 

One also gets a different fan clutch to my recollection.

 

There was no factory tow package for the 1st gens. Some dealers installed Class III hitches or tranny coolers themselves, but it wasn't an official Toyota option.

If it is an automatic, I'd recommend an aux tranny cooler. Bigger battery and alternator only if your trailer consumes a lot of power.

Main problem is the tow ratings, the 1st Gen V6 is only rated to 5000lbs/500lbs tongue, and no modifications can raise that rating.

There was a tow package in '03 for certain. Maybe not '04 though.
