Just wondering if anyone else's factory tonneau cover has a slight bow on the front 3rd near the cab.. I'll get better pics tomorrow.

Mine is raised maybe 1/4", slightly more than the tailgate edge.

If it is arched up I would imagine it is designed that way to help shed water.

The way it's bowed would draw water to the center..

My guess is if you look as the side rails on the bed compared to the front rail, it is slightly raised. I'm not quite sure why they designed it this way.

Does anyone know if you can install a factory cover on a 2016 that did not come with it? I noticed there are latches on the side rails that mine does not have. Is it possible to install all of that on mine?

I'm pretty sure the studs have to be installed at the factory.

Lot's of people have added the OEM cover to their trucks.

If you remove the top bed rail, you'll see the threaded mounts for the studs.

Can you send me a link to someone who has? I'm not sure if I'll do that because I already paid $850 for the Extang Encore but I just met a guy who had one parked next to me and he said his factory cover didn't leak in the rain last night. My Encore leaks a little.

Sorry, I don't really have the patience to dig for you, but to add the OEM cover on your truck, you either need to a) source all the parts yourself. Toyota does not sell the cover as a kit. b) find someone selling their cover.

The side plastic rails on an on-cover bed will need to be modified, or if you buy a used cover, you need to swap the bed rails.

Anyways, when you remove the bed rails, you'll see the bolts holding the striker bolts on. Those need to be removed and transferred to the new truck.

Also, the OEM cover is not waterproof. They will still leak.

Since you can't buy the OEM cover from Toyota (it's only available as a trim level and not a regular option for some inane reason), what most people do is swap their top bed rails when they sell the cover. You'd have to either meet up with someone who's selling theirs or buy one that comes with the modified rails and the studs required to mount it. There's also another latch up by the cab in the middle.

There's a lot of posts about this, search for "second click," you have to push down on the back corners of the OEM cover to get it latched all the way. Still lets a little in, but not much.

if you close the tailgate before you have to push down on the cover where the latches are located to get the water tight seal

@ OP. I've got an OEM tonneau cover off Craigslist for $250. The dude saved all the hardware which makes it a breeze to install. I like the quality and fit but my first panel sag just like yours. I think it more apparent on a hot day when the truck sits in the sun for a few hours. It's plastic not metal so I'm not surprised if it warps a little. Water gets in a bit at the rear gate after carwash and rain.
