I noticed water in mine today after driving in a rain. I feel like the front and back panels should be tighter to the bed rail. Debating on taking it in and having it looked at. Seems there should be little to no water getting in. Owned it for a week tomorrow.

I had this too and was wondering WTF was going on. Very easy fix :)
The locks (6 points, but one is the bolt) don't lock all the way unless you apply pressure to them. If you want it fitting snug as a Victoria's Angels bikini, just take both hand and push down on the cover right onto each of the five locks. You'll hear clicks as the locks fully engage, and no more bowing or leaking. Substantial pressure may be necessary, my trucks suspension flexes a little when I press down. Other than that, I have no idea what people have been talking about regarding opening/closing tailgate. Mine opens and closes fine with locks "fully engaged". Let me know if you have any issues.

Just got my brand new Tacoma yesterday and the cover had this problem. The guy at the dealership was going to have me bring it back in to have the techs flip the bracket points on the truck upside down. I just went outside after reading this thread and tried closing the cover before the gate and noticed that the adjustable tie down points on the rails were in the way of the rubber feet on the cover.

I moved the adjustable tie down points and then closed the cover and pressed down hard in the corners and got the second click. Closed the gate and it looks like it will be water tight now. Hope this helps someone else!

I did get a second click in the leaf closest to the tailgate but not anywhere else. I also think it should still close tighter at the tailgate and the leaf closest to the cab. You can see the "U" shape from cab to tailgate. The seals should be all but smashed down imho.

I tried to get the click on the front driver side leaf and had no joy. I stood on it and got nothing.

Yeah that one gave me a little bit of fuss too. What I suggest is that you fold it together, loosen the bolt on passenger side, unlock driver side and lift up enough to see where lock is and then push down on that exact spot. Mine then fully engaged, and when bolt is tightened its super snug. Now that I know where the "pressure points" are I get it right every time, and I've had the whole thing off 10+ times.

Yeah it's unfortunately a little finicky. Not to be silly specific here, but I usually don't get the second click on the middle leaf, but do on driver side front leaf, and both sides on rear (tailgate) leaf. The point is that you have the press down exactly above the locks. If I press down anywhere else, it's just playing games with me. On my F250 I could just press down in the middle rear, above the tailgate, and both sides would lock up. However, that still had some slop in it. The cover on my Taco has zero slop once you get fully locked down ("second click").

Be careful with Extang. I have had a bad experience that continues... Really don't feel right about selling since I know it has no transferable warranty

mine is just the opposite...front is tight down, but the rear passenger side rides a little high for my taste.

I do that too, and it works. but, the right side still a bit loose (rides slightly higher than left side). However, all and all...its still good enough for me. Only a little bit of water can get in during car wash. It's still safe enough for breaking and entering from thieves. That's all that matters for me.

Have a quick question for you guys... Will a 2016 tacoma truck bed cover fit on a 2008? Both short bed models

Thanks bud. I'm not sure but that's worth looking into. Mine has the slightest bow too on bolt corner, but the others are looking pretty good. At least its pretty much bone dry when it rains.
