Talk to JAG and see what the options are. It seems like there should be a waiver for something like that.

probably because he took the vehicle overseas with him? maybe they won't honor it since it is in a different country? interesting to say the lease...sub'd for curiosity....

Yah agreed, We need to stand behind our troops with whatever they need. At first i thought you meant like you bought a new truck but then had to be shipped out overseas so you couldnt get any of the warranty work done, Assumed you wanted Toyota to put a hold on the warranty time run out. Either way, We need to make sure you get taken care of man.

If you ship it without Toyota's permission its voided

Yup, shipping my truck from Washington to Hawaii Voided my warranty. I had to fix a leaking power steering rack and some other things myself. Toyota will not honor their warranty if you move the vehicle outside of "their area".... I've had some very angry phone calls with toyota's customer help lines

How do they know? ive never shipped a vehicle so i assume its something to do with the VIN or a special paper you have to get?

Well they knew right away that my truck was purchased in Northern Washington the first time I took it to a Hawaii dealer. They told me they would look at it and if they determined that I was still covered they would repair it. Turns out the dealers in Hawaii are not owned by Toyota and can refuse to honor the warranty if they please. Its a nice $120 kick in the balls to when they give you the truck back and tell you "your not covered"

Oh okay that makes sense, But if hes coming back... They wont know the difference will they? I mean if you dont tell them, Take it overseas and then ship it back and service it where you bought it... I assume he should be good right?

So is it void or just in an area where the warranty business agreement isn't included???

That is BS and really makes me wonder WTF Toyota is thinking! Hawaii is a state. That's piss poor structuring.

I've never understood why American GI's would send a car to a foreign duty station and want to bring it back to the US. I saw guys in Japan bring the suburbans and tahoes over there to make money selling them to the Japanese. My wife took her Golf to Sigonella and brought it back but after years on the horrible roads and shitty drivers it was never the same. She regretted taking the car over there.

It's not about it being a state or not it's that Toyota corporation doesn't own the dealership. It's like going to a Starbucks inside Safeway. It's not the same as the one outside.

BS ... no integrity ... guess Toyota has become like any other corporation today ... all they care about is the money ... it's not about having a good name and standing behind your product any more.

Sorry, for some reason I felt like venting ... don't know the solution ... and can't do anything about it.
