The other day I pulled my rears off and painted em with Krylon Fusion Satin. Little did I realize that all the clips would break and cost $2.19 each and there are 14 of them in the rear. The flares look really good though. I haven't reinstalled them yet but I will take a couple pics when i get finished. I might do it today.

I use an armor all type of rub in coating. Is a good protectant and I've had good results. Applied after every wash, about once or twice a month. My truck is an 04 and the black fender flares still look like new.

Anyone that plans to repaint their fenders already try one of the FAT tiped style Sharpie markers. I bet it would work, if not your repainting anyway.

You can buy all the clips for about $30 or so from online, I have a link on my other dual-boot OS. I'm thinking of bedliner or plasti-dip stuff.

Can you use this on the flares like people have on the bumper, anyone try this?

Did all mine with magic eraser followed by Mother's back to black. Very impressed.
Truck has been sitting outside in a hurricane for two days. Will update with pics tomorrow.

The reason the flares fade is oil slowly moving it's way out of the plastic. Every time you wash your truck, you wash a little bit of oil out of the flares. The dressings that you put on only absorb into the surface. When it rains, the dressing (that has oil in it), gets washed away and you are soon left with faded flares again. There is really no good way to get these flares black again unless you submerged them in a bath of hot or warm oil over night or over the course of a couple days. I am planning on having mine painted, either black with Rustoleum bed liner or professionally done by a body shop to match my truck. I am DONE with shitty looking fender flares :D

The best paint you can use on anything is SEM. I've used it on my old trucks dash, flares and never had any fading issues nor peeling.

Secondly has anyone dyed the flares. I've dyed several at work and for friends. The product listed below is not for changing it to another color. If they were black stock order black. This stuff is absolutely amazing. Apply with a 2" roller or a simple rag.

I rattle canned my flares a couple months ago and they have held up very nice. Steps I used.

1.Remove flare (you will break clips so buy new ones)
2.Wash and then sand (type of grit to your liking, more or less creating a surface for the paint to stick too). Green or red scotch type pad also works.
    3. Wipe clean to remove shavings and dust.
4.Dupli-ColorSandable Primer -I did one coat but recommend 2 (need 2 cans if 2 coats are desired. let dry
5.Dupli-Color Acrylic Enamel - Once again 2 cans needed for adequate coverage.
    6. Pop the clips on the freshly painted flares.

    7.:proposetoast:

I did mine maybe 5 months ago and there is no fading. It seems to hold up relatively well too. However a possible clear (non reflective) coat as a protective barrier could be considered. All things said. Cheap and really helps lift the truck up in the looks department.

Did you color match them or just do flat black? I'd like to see how they look :D

How does that paint hold up to flexing of the flare?

Herculiner fades fast, and it thins out in the sun.
