I just smogged at the end of August and the first place I went to couldn't read the rpm's..

Went to a second shop with a more up to date machine and passed in just a few short minutes..

So it could just be the test machine itself..so I was told..

What state are you in? CA is strict with emissions testing..

P.S. I had just disconnected my battery a few nights prior to take off my long tube headers..

all of the systems have to be reporting as "ready", usually takes about 40 miles or so.

Used to be you had to put a certain amount of drive cycles in after reseting the computer. Take it out and drive it in varying speeds and shut her down and start up and repeat for about 20 miles and you should be good.

all depends. I replaced number 3 coil, reset battery, drove 15 miles to the testing place and passed.

Bmiller I'm in MA. so it looks like somewhere around thirty to forty miles
thats cool the guy at the shop said drive it for a few days(that can mean anything)
I'm just pumped I got the airbag light to go out after a new clockspring--So at least no more ducking from cops with a legit fat rejection R now

    Thanks for the speedy response!!!

My brother had a 98 mustang that he put 250+ miles on before the computer had cycled through all its tests. He downloaded some mechanics guide for getting a vehicle ready for smog after computer reset or battery disconnect. Didn't work very well tho.

    Good luck!
