My 2006 4 door Tacoma failed it's frame inspection the other day. I have a 4+ inch by 3+ inch hole on the inside driver's side by the cat, with a 1 inch by 3 inch hole on the bottom of the frame below it. I'm concerned about driving it for the month and a half that it will take for the replacement to come in. The tech said he'd seen worse. Should I go back and demand a rental?

That's amazing they'd let you drive it after 'failing' it.

Did you talk to a Manager?

I'd demand a rental. Unless they plan to pay for everything if the frame breaks causing an accident and totaling the truck.

If they refuse a rental, get it in writing that your frame that failed is safe to drive and why. So if it snaps on the freeway and you survive you can retire early with a pile of money to wipe with.

That's quite the liability letting you leave with a damaged frame like that.

    Demand a rental.
Can't believe they let you drive away with it like that. You would think that since they failed it, they wouldn't let you drive it away.

You should not drive that truck. Although mine looked just as bad and I was driving it until the muffler rotted off and the repair shop told me.
