Installed an amp and all new speakers plus sub in my 21. There is a faint beeping noise that I hear even with the audio turned off and does not increase in volume, just gets lost in the sound when music is played. I’m gonna try and shorten the ground wire and try another remote source to turn on the amp.

Right now I’m tapped into the 12v from the USB ports in the center console. This is the first system I’ve worked on in a long time and other than that, it functions fine. Just a little annoying. It only happens if the engine is running.

Back in the days of carburetors, the only thing we ran into was alternator noise.

Wondering if someone else has experienced this? I did search the forum and have read a lot of the audio threads.

Check the wire between the battery negative and the body.

Without it you will hear the dash light dimmer buzz, LED headlight noise if you have them, sounds from anything plugged into the 12v outlets, blower fan noise, trailer brake whine, etc.

what amp? because i don't know of any wiring issue that will cause a beeping noise. if it's a constant tone/hum, that's a different story though.

Checked the ground from the battery to the body and removed it, sanded some paint off and bolted it back on.

Disconnected my remote wire coming off the USB power in the center console and ran another temp power wire to turn on the amp.

    Shortened my amp ground wire.

No difference. What I have learned is along with the distinct but very faint beeping sound, there is also a slight hum I guess you could call it when the amp turns on. Also, I thought the beeping only happened when the truck was running but after looking and listening closer, it does happen with the key in both the ACC and On positions, engine running or not.

It only sounds like it’s coming from the right front speaker area. Again, there is a distinct beeping, although very faint but that’s what caught my attention early on. Does not affect the sound quality and it does not get louder with volume. Just a weird annoyance when driving and the head unit is turned off or sometimes I notice it between songs.

So I’m figuring it’s definitely the amp producing this for whatever reason.

Unsolved mystery but so far, it hasn’t caused any problems and it’s already been about 4-5 months.
