Sometimes its my passenger that whines, the whistling noise happens when the window is rolled down and she has her ear to the side.. Goes away when she turns

Apologies if I am repeating a similar question. I have a 2010 TRD Sport with 170K miles, at speeds ~60 mph I get a higher pitched whining (similar to the wine glass) that is completely dependent on the accelerator. If I take my foot off the accelerator, the noise instantly stops. When I press the accelerator it instantly returns. It also happens at lower speeds (20-30 mph), but does not seem to be related to RPMs.
Thanks for any suggested paths to search.

Exact same experience. Got to dealership to pick up the truck they were holding for me, also built end of July, 3 miles on odometer and less than one mile into the test drive it makes this whistle sound that I hear 2 or 3 times during test drive. Almost walked away when salesperson gives some BS about ia break-in noise that will go away after a few miles. But before I walk, I pull up TW on my phone, search for whistle sound and find this page. Long story short, I have a new Taco knowing it as a quirk of the truck that, already two weeks later, I hardly notice anymore. I’ll re-evaluate at the 5k service and mention the TSB if it becomes annoying.

That is exactly what I am hearing in my 2019 SR 5 4x4. I’m at 60k now and just started noticing it, but I am driving on and OR every day now in a new job. Basically what I am hearing is this is “normal” for the 3rd gen? Anyone have any luck fixing it or is it just what it is?

I have an 06 4R that has the Toyota whine.

Now I have a 22 Taco with the Toyota whine.

Just lets me know when something is or isn't engaged tightly in an unknown mechanism.

The 06 started when relatively new and has never gotten worse.

I was kind of proud when the little Taco started whining.

Thats exactly what mine sounds like! It just happens and stops randomly but only after taking off. Never at idle. No clue what it is.

Mine has this noise too. Identical to the video. Dealer mentioned the TSB but I am passing for now. Not anxious to remove the dash.

someone said it gets less pronounced as time goes by. Does this sound right ? My 22 is 2 years old with 18k miles

Exactly the same here in my 2011 sport. You ever get anywhere with this? Entirely dependent on my foot on the accelerator, and speed dependant...

From what my dealership told me they said that the evap core could be going bad. It’s a hefty job to do.

I’m on my 3rd 3 gen Tacoma so I know all about the rear diff whine. Had the diff changed out on a 2017 and a 2019 and the results were the same. Noise was still there, just bought a used 2021 and rear diff is fine but have the same kinda whirling, whining sound that starts at 20mph and stays constant until other road noise drowns it out. Doesn’t matter if on pavement, gravel. Just can’t figure it out. Thought some of yall would have some experience with this. And it has the plugs in lower control arms so it isn’t that.

Its normal, thats your AC compressor kicking in and out for the windshield defroster and climate control modes. When the ac clutch kicks in it immediately adds load which affects the drive belt and you get that oscillating warble because its a compressor and pumps make noise. At acceleration, the belt is moving much faster than idle and in turn so is the compressor.
