First of all I should introduce myself. I'm from the east coast of Canada, and I just bought my 2010 Tacoma Trd Sport double cab in September. I have been doing some research through the forums for a ~3" lift with 285/70r17 tires on stock rims. From the information I've gathered, *I think* I have it figured out to achieve what I'm looking for (I'm new to truck suspensions).
I will be upgrading to new coils in time (following a budget), but for now I will go with the Bilstein 5100's all around (with stock springs) set to 2.5" in the front, 1" in the back, 1.5" AAL with TSB, and 1.25" wheel spacers. I've read about the stiffness of the stock springs and some of the trimming, alignment, etc.)
As of now, my truck is a daily driver with light off road use. I will be getting in to more off road use when the winter is over.

Let me know if this set up will work.

    Thanks ahead of time!

It sounds about right based on everything I've been reading on here the last 2 years. Where in CB are you from? I grew up there also.

I'm from Glace Bay and have a home there. I was working in Nfld most of this year though.

what are the wheel spacers for? rear 5100s are not adjustable. 3" toytec with aal is what i went with.

The wheel spacers are so the 285's don't rub as much with the factory wheels.

I have billies in the front. I tried the 2.5 setting and it rode super super stiff. I bought ome 885 springs and put in with the shocks at 0 setting and it is a tad higher with a much better ride. My suggestion would be go ome shocks and springs if u are trying to be more economical. Everybody has their own idea, but for 95% highway driving I would appreciate a slightly smoother ride.

With the 1.25" wheel spacer, you will have to trim away more of the fender flare. Since the tire is just 10mm wider per side, try mounting the wheel onto the truck without the spacer first. If you have enough of a gap between the UCA and the tire sidewall, it would be better to run without the spacer.

Ok I'm in the same boat as you are. I want the same height and tires as you. What I have read in many many threads is 5100s set to 2.5 is a pretty ruff ride. I've even talked to one member who took his back to 1.75. I think I'm going with new ome 886 springs (I have a plate bumper and winch or I'd would have gone with 885s) and from what I have read I will probably need new UCAs ($375 from fat bobs) these are needed to keep the alignment in spec. And probably just a add a leaf from fat bobs also, it says should add 2 inch of lift. Hope this helps and if anyone has anything to add or correct please comment. Thanks nick

I decided to add in some Eibach springs rather than just using the stock. Most of the time I will be on normal roads, so a little more comfort can't hurt. I'm probably going to get BFG KM2 and hopefully I won't need wheel spacers, but I can get them locally if I run in to that problem.
