I put TRD stickers on the side of my flatbed, but just cause it looked bare and couldn't find anything else to put on there. Had about 10 people ask over the years " is that a factory flat bed??" so I guess I did good

Please help, I hit the wrong button when doing the profile page a few yrs ago, & haven't figured how to change it. I ain't much on computers. Back then I had a 1998 reg. cab. 4X4 Taco, now I have a 2013 reg. cab. 4X4 Taco. If you can tell me how to change my profile page, please send me a private message. Thanks

I wouldn't worry about it, I was honestly just messing with you and just happened to notice it. I doubt most people pay any attention to those things.

The V6 is questionable. As far as I know, only the first gens were available in a OR with a 4 cylinder and it's rare to find.

Up to 2012 all TRD were SR5 but not all SR5 were TRD.

I don’t understand the badges at all. When I got my 2011 TRD Sport, first thing I did was pull the decals off the bed and debadge. So when I sold it you either had to know that the outlet in the bed and the hood scoop represented a TRD or you had to run the vin. It’s about capability people, not reading from a distance. Personally not a fan of any decals at all, unless we’re talking early 80’s Pickups. My current ride is completely debadged as well. Wanna know what it’s got, know your shit and look underneath

I have been shopping for a Tacoma with TRD Off Road package, and have noticed that maybe least half the trucks I see advertised by dealers have the TRD Off Road sticker, but you can see on the dash they don't have the "RR DIFF LOCKER" button, which means those trucks do not have the TRD Off Road package and the stickers were added to mislead. I've also noticed SR5 and Sport editions where in the description they'll either list it as having the Off Road Pkg or use the words "off road" as often as they can, e.g. "Off Road TOWING Package" to mislead someone who doesn't really understand what that means. I'm guessing if they got caught, their defense will be that since it's 4WD, you can take it off road, adding "Sorry for the misunderstanding," or "We don't know why the previous owner put that on there."

Lets be correct, those are not fake stickers. My 2013 reg cab 4X4 has not fake but real TRD Sport stickers & a not fake, not after mkt., but real Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport scooped hood. My Taco is a fake TRD Sport, but the hood & stickers are not fake at all.... Glad you know what you are seeing & not getting scammed like others have.

Im doing the opposite, Im taking my Sport and rebadging it as an SR. Its the big fish in a little pond principle: my SR is nicer than yours. :bananadead:

But for a sticker it's kinda nice. Nicer than the one that came on my truck!

I have a 2006 SR5 Prerunner that is 2WD and a V6 but it has the TRD off road sticker on the side. It did have bilstein shocks when I got it. So my truck should be legit correct?

Yes. 2wd TRD OR is a legit model, I have the same. Just for the hell of it you can confirm by making sure you have the rear locker (RR Diff Lock) button left of the steering wheel

It does have the electronic rear locking diff. There is a button to the left of the steering wheel. I have never used though. Good to know I have the real thing I guess.

I validate you! Hahaha! Yes ur truck... is a truck! And it is off road, barely. Sticker shame isn't a real thing. I'm pretty sure the OP was joking around. It's not like ur truck is a Ford Escort with a Ferrari badge. LOL!

Lol I know right. I didn't even know there were so many different Tacoma models. I just always thought toyota trucks were badass. I have learned so much about these trucks being on this forum. And I don't offroad mine but everytime I get it in I feel like Im Ivan stewart.

It’s interesting reading the old and new posts alike. Having removed my original off road bedside decals to go to some fun vinyl customs, I’m fairly up to speed on how to do the reverse as well (researched it in case I had to go back to stock stickers down the road if I want to sell).

I don’t give a crap what people do with their personal vehicles - badged, debadged, wrong badges or decals, custom, unicorn stickers, call it a Raptor, whatever. It’s your truck.

But if there are that many Tacoma’s out there for sale at dealers being marketed as a trim level they’re not, that causes me to ask how much intent and purposeful fraud is going on. It’s one thing to list an SR5 as an OR on the site (still wrong). It’s another to actively put an OR bedside decal on an SR5 knowing it’s not. That’s another level. I would like to know how often dealers of any kind do THAT. Potentially leaves a trail of activity that would be harder to deny later.
