Have a friend with a 4-Runner with TRD stickers on it, but he has the TRD headers,, exhaust and supercharger. I think he deserves to have the stickers more than I do.

Awesome for him, glad he doesn't care what the haters think.

I just hope he was smart enough to debadge the prerunner emblems like most prerunner owners already do.

I wanted to put of TRD stickers on my old '86 4Runner, until I saw that they cost $35 EACH!! Not per pair, but EACH.

But I also had mod'd the 4Runner to or above that of a modern factory TRD. (lockers, engine mods, bilstiens, suspension, etc...). My 4Runner would have been considered a TRD if they had that package back then. It had every option Toyota offered at the time. It was a 22R-TE with "Turbo" embroidered seats, dash mounted tiltometer, etc...

If you're doing it to just make people think you have a TRD truck, then I probably wouldn't do it. I have a few stickers on my '04, but they're all of things I have either installed on the truck itself, or my motorcycle or mountain bikes.

    just my 2 cents

I would have put a swing away tire mount on the bumper...

Plus, those are obviously his street treads.

Is that a body lift?! :D

The other day I saw a 2nd Gen PreRunner driving along side of me, that sky blue color, had some A/T's on it, pretty clean truck. It got to where I could see the tailgate and I saw where it clearly read: "PreRunner". But, alas, they had put one of those black 4x4 wal-mart stickers on the top right of the tailgate.

Lifting a prerunner, and making it look completely capable to go to BFE in the middle of a tsunami is one thing.

But NOT taking the prerunner badge off and slapping an obvious b.s. 4x4 sticker on there, makes you look like a dumbass. Nobody else may know, but a Taco owner will call your ass out. At least take the prerunner badge off. damn...

OH! Also, saw a early 90s Nissan Sentra today at school. Guess what was on the trunk...

    A chrome 4x4 stick-on. Nice.

IMO TRD (Toyota Racing Developement) are accessories, not a vehicle. Years ago and maybe still, if you bought their headers, exhaust etc. you got a TRD sticker. Much like buying a Magnaflow muffler or Bassani X-pipe. If you chose to stick it on your vehicle, that was up to you. Now I have a Dbl Cab four by TRD Offroad (which is a package of accessories) with TRD stickers on it that says "I have some Toyota Racing Developement parts. If you have some TRD parts put on or don't put on the stickers, it's up to you. On the other side of the coin some years ago I had a Saleen Mustang. A number of people would clone the Saleen and then get Saleen stickers and put them on their cars. Now that really pissed me off. A mustang is not a Saleen just because you put on some Saleen parts and throw on a sticker. Saleen is a complete vehicle, TRD is one or a collection of TRD parts.

Thats a good way to put it.

Except I have TRD stickers on my truck, but no TRD accessores. :D

I just like the look of the TRD stickers, I dont want to convince anyone that I have a TRD.

Well said. Don't most people sell their TRD parts for other accessories anyways?

TRD by itself means Toyota Racing Development, but TRD SPORT and TRD OFFROAD are specific packages, not just stickers.

Welcome aboard. Welcome to your opinion. Don't expect it to be a unanimous one. It'd be a rare to non event. If someone makes themselves a TRD single cab then the stickers would be appropriate on their truck as they see fit, just as they saw fit to spec their reg cab with parts Toyota puts on the same trucks with different cab or bed lengths.
