Thank you tow-coma for the awesome post! Tons of good info on here!

So with progressive valving, damping increases progressively as shaft velocity increases, in other words, the rate of damping increase ramps up with shaft speed. Digressive Linear valving introduces the shock into the ride of your vehicle at lower shaft speeds and the continues to increase with shaft speeds but at a lower rate. This allows for a much more composed and stable ride on the street but also has huge benefits off-road when dealing with non-race vehicles that have limited travel length.

A good example is a ladder falling over. It requires much less force to stop the ladder early in the fall (digressive) than it will right before it lands (like progressive valving). Digressive Linear is not a new concept, however learning how to tune it right so that you have a shock that is enjoyable on street and mind-blowing off-road is the challenge. There has been so much response to our Jeep shocks that we decided to take this approach to the Tacoma and the results are awesome.

Also, these are released and are available.

I'm a calculus teacher and I know what jerk is. I think you forgot some words and letters in there.

Digressive means the valving produces less force as shaft speed increases(unless you did and you didn't write it correctly). You didn't say anything about this. Your mention of a ladder doesn't say anything about what your valving does when the ladder is falling at the bottom. I assume your zone control would act like bottoming resistance, which makes the overall force progressive. You didn't say anything about 'linear'. Please help me.

Was anybody able to figure out how much lift would you get out of these? Or do you not get any lift at all? Thanks

@Falcon Shocks would it be possible to purchase just the rears? I’m assuming the falcon rears will act in a similar fashion to Bilstein zone control?
I’m running Bilstein B8 8112 on the front but still stock Bilstein in the rear. Just installed them but I don’t want to leave it that way for long.

Why would you want to run two different brand shocks on your truck?

I can’t find 8100’s anywhere and when I have they cost double what the fronts cost. 2100+ for two rear shocks is unreasonable. So I can run stock rears for another year+ while I save for 8100’s or try to find something comparable. I honestly wish I’d have found the falcon set first as the 8112 are way overkill for how I use the truck. Which is mostly on road, weekend hunting and occasional full off road adventure. Next option it either bp51 rears or just 5160’s.

If i was in your position i would go Billy 5160's as they are affordable and very capable shocks

These are the right questions tow-coma! Thank you for asking. I will try my best to help (and sorry for the delay in response).

Decreasing force as shaft speed increases would actually be considered regressive. A good example would be regressive tax. The tax rate decreases as the amount subject to taxation increases. I didn't speak to linear separately because the valving is not linear. It is digressive-linear. The valving can only be described with the words digressive and linear together. If it were digressive only, then there would be no change to the amount of damping as shaft speed increases. Digressive-linear, however, is the area of a graph between true linear and true digressive. The good people at DVO Suspension worked up nice graphic on the topic at http://tech.dvosuspension.com/digressive-vs-progressive-damping/

In any suspension system is it crucial to have some type of bottoming resistence, like factory bumpstops for instance. No one wants to ride around on shock so stiff that you never bottom out. We've been fortunate enough to develop bottoming resistance that is not harsh. Most times I don't know when it even happens. Is is due in part to the digressive-linear valving stopping the "ladder" early. I hope this helps!

i_cappi thanks for calling this out! We chose not to market them for the 2nd until we verify tuning. All Falcon Shocks are heavily vehicle specific. We are currently working on our tuning approach based on weight distribution and factory spring rate for the 2nd gen.
