I think the KO3 addresses those issues.

I'm running those tires in load range C. But, I also have a camper canopy and heavy rear bumper. If you don't have the load, you can run SL.

I personally wouldnt waste funds on BFG's....
Some folks love them, but from my research, hard to keep round, & to me, not worth the cost.....

I ran them on my 3rd gen 2017. I thought I would give the KO3 a try. I’ll give you my impressions in 5 years.

    Cant go wrong, good pick....
Majority of guys in the industry #1 pick would be the Toyo Open Country ATIII , but sidewall isnt very aesthetically appealing......
My chick had a set on her ford ranger & NEVER once rotated them & they wore evenly until they were racing slicks, unheard of...
But between a Falken & a BFG, Falken all day....

yup. this advice isn’t given as much as it should be. unless you’re pulling at max tow capacity a lot- most people are fine with SL rated tires. i have hundreds of miles on forest service roads and my SL Coopers do great.

I bought the Falken A/T4W 285/70/17 SLs and couldn't be happier. Awesome traction in the rain, super quiet, look great, no rub on a stock SR5, and no discernible drop in mpg. Plan to swap them over to some wider SCS or RRW wheels at some point.

The weight difference between C and E rating is negligible and most of the time are the same, change my mind. Falken wildpeak a/t4w 255/85 r16 C rated weighs 58.4 lbs. A tire that is basically the same diameter MUCH wider and E rated BFG KO2 285/75 R16 E rated weighs 58.6 lbs.

If you get zero offset then you will rub slightly. :)

I think the AT4W is an excellent tire but is quite heavy in LT sizes. Have a set of C-load "Duraspec"-sidewall LT315/70R17 on another vehicle and they are 78lb a piece. Massively deep tread while being the quietest A/T I've ever (not) heard. Great in snow, snow on ice, crazy rain, and dry. Also have a set of SL in P265/75R16 on an old truck, they have HALF the tread of the C-load version but ride great. Can't tell you how those work in snow/rain as that vehicle is not allowed to outside in such conditions. :D

I'm looking for 285/75R17 for the Tacoma (whenever it gets here) but am not even considering the AT4W. Too heavy even in load range C in that size in my opinion (68lb, 9lb more than the Toyo AT3). I'm going up from 36lb stock tires so adding +23lb/corner even with the Toyos..it'd be +32lb/corner with the AT4Ws. Would definitely want them but for the weight.

When shopping for AT4Ws, pay close attention to the sidewall stamp listed on each size here: https://www.falkentire.com/wildpeak/at4w

The "Duraspec" load range C tires have a very stout sidewall. The "standard" sidewall load range C tires are more akin to an SL I think. As an example, look at the difference in weight between the 275/70R17 and 285/70R17 in load range C. The 275 has a "standard" sidewall and the 285 has a "Duraspec". Both have 18/32 of tread depth, but the 275 weighs 7.3 lb less. My understanding (and I could be wrong) is the Duraspec are unusually tough (and heavy) C-load tires that offer the protection of E-load with a better ride (but still with all the weight).

    Weight is third-to-last column, 58.1 vs 65.4:
