I don't see too many people running 285s with Falkens but there are a lot doing 285 with BFG KO2..is there a reason for this?

I plan to gut my Pro suspension and replace with kings for a 2.5" lift with adjustable control arms, falken 285/70/17 with 4runner TRD PRO wheels..would I need a CMC?

I just put 265-70r16 AT3W SL on my 2000 Tacoma and am very impressed so far. I swapped out some Toyo Open Country AT2's (with plenty of tread on them) because they were a dangerous in rain. I purchased the Falken AT3W because of the reputation of excellent wet weather traction. They look more aggressive and are every bit as quite.

Love mine, had them for about 8k so far. From desert to mud to snow on trails and highways. Solid tire and I’ll probs buy it again.

Unless you're towing, hauling heavy loads or doing serious off roading..... SL all the way. Lighter, softer ride, better wet traction.

Fox 2.0 coilovers, rear icon 2.0 shocks,
Just picked up this wheel and tire combo. I’ve been super happy with the performance of the AT3w’s. I have them in a 285 and they look super aggressive once on the truck. They’ve seen rain, mud, dirt, rocks, and they’ve done everything I’ve wanted them to. Overall a great tire in my opinion!

Gorgeous truck man. That is EXACTLY what I'm going for once my OEM tires go bald. Very modest and tastefully done.

Anyone have pictures of these in 265/65r17? I love the way the 265/70r17 looks but I don't want to have to get rid of my mudflaps

Fairly certain you are totally okay with the larger tires. It may be somewhat of a “squeeze”, but you aren’t going to be rubbing or anything. At least that’s what I’ve collected after my research into this. Look at the guys truck I previously responded to. It should look just like that and he’s running mud guards. Granted, your wheel is 17 inches vs his 16 inches, but it should be a wash with that 265/70/17. A 265/75/16 would be the exact equivalent of that because of the wheel size.

Depends on what wheel offset you will have. Need that info. I had 265/75/16 with -12 offset and rubbed on mudflaps when compressing even on driveways.

Were you running stock or aftermarket wheels with those tires?

I have to say the SL compound does great in the slippery stuff, but even with the softer winter compound in mind I am still surprised how quickly they’re wearing. I have some old Hankook Dynapros on the Pickup that are so old they’re dry rotting haha and they have way more tread left than my couple years old Falken that will need replacing before next winter for sure.

Phenomenal tire. Does everything I ask of it from long comfortable stretches of highway to daily driving or off road to blizzards to great price. Only downside I’ve seen after so long is short tread life. That said, I just put the same tires in my sister-in-law’s vehicle that she toes my 3 month old nephew around in, and will be putting them on the Pickup and another set on the 4Runner come Fall/Winter. Great tire.
