Unfortunately not - could one be better than the other?

    Yes...
You want to replicate the method and forces involved when mounting on your vehicle.

You guys that are having issues. When they mounted the tires on the Wheels did they line up the yellow dot with the valve stems?

Do you use a fitted collet or cone shaped collet in the hub?
Do you use a mounting plate or clamping hood to secure the wheel?

You want a fitted collet and mounting plate.

Yes they did. They brought me out into the shop and showed me per my request.

Since my new wheel has been installed, i have yet been back to road force balance. Will try and get in there next week.

I lined up the yellow dots when mounting them. I road force balanced them too. Two took a ton of weight and two balanced out fine. One looked like it had a lump in it honestly. Almost dismounted it and spun it around but ill just live with. I'll redo it if it gives me problems.

    All,

Last ditch effort. Got the new wheel warrantied. Finally had a second to go in and have them road force balance it. This time it did balance.

Still have to shake. No change. Thinking it could be something else? Dont know how. All i had done was 5100's set at 1.1, wheel and tires. All else stock. There was no shake when i bought my truck.

What I've learnt is that even if it "balances", if the the tire is out of round the shake will still be there.

Really wanted these tires, but the guy at Discount Tire strongly suggested against it. He said 90% of Tacoma's end up coming back with issues.

53,000 miles on mine with no issues

No issues on my brothers truck

    No issues on my tundra

If these tires really had an issue there’s no way they’d still be making them...

So are the Tacome wheel mounting surfaces Hub centric, or Lug centric?

Just came across this thread. I'll +1 on the tire issues. I did just tires 265's on my stock rims the same weekend I installed my OME lift. I've had my tires road forced balanced twice now and still have shakes/vibes... Not horrible but still there. Bought from @Discount Tire , I will say their service is great! Not sure if they need a new machine or its the tires.
