The Falkens are a car tire with and all terrain terrain tread...get a real all terrain tire with a 3 ply sidewall and no more flats.

I couldn't wait to lose the Kevlars, so I never entertained the idea of going bigger with them. Yes they were quitter than my Duratrac's, but were horrible in the ice/snow. I think Kevlar's should have been put on the SPORT & Duratrac's on the Off-Road model, since it has a great aggressive feel to them. Fortunately for me, I haven't noticed any mpg loss with my 265/75/16, but I put very low mileage on my Taco.

I think I'm alright. I'll take these "car tires" over the majority of "real all terrain tires" out there any day, least I'll have good traction with these. If I ever did upgrade I would stay with Falken and get their M/Ts.

I couldnt wait to lose them either. Put the duratracs on at 5k. I definitely noticed an MPG loss with the upsized duratracs. If I drove like a grandma before I could get like 22, 23 mpg. Now driving like grandma at 65 max on the freeway I get about 19, maaaybe 20-21 on long 55mph highway drives. overall average is about 18 where as before it was more like 20.

I never had a chance to use the stock tires in ice or snow but ive heard others say they are actually pretty decent. As I recall they were surprisingly good on the dirt and logging roads for how "on roady" they look. I'm just entertaining the idea at this point. Possibly run the 265/75/16 stock tires in the summers and switch back to duratracs in winter. The duratracs are just a little stiffer, heavier and never quite balanced as well. As far as I know though the Duratrac is about the only option in 265/75/16 that is reasonably aggressive and comes in C load.

I will agree with you that duratracs should have come on the Pro at least, however they have to hit certain MPG numbers.

    The SL's are a 4 ply, C load is a 6 ply & E load us a 10 ply with the Wildpeaks

Yep your right. He's talking sidewall & not load rating. My bad. I would be real surprised if these are only a 2 ply sidewall with the max load capacity that high but technology these days changes things

So I bought the LT265/75R16 and I'm in my 30day window with discount tire where I can trade these in. I'm thinking of going to the p rated tire but they will basically just swap the LT for the P with no cost difference. Would it be prudent to take that trade for a cheaper tire in order to get a softer ride since the LT seems overkill for the kind of off-roading I do?

Car tires have 2 ply sidewalls...like the Falken AT3W. Tires designed to actually go off-road have 3 ply sidewalls....like BFG AT and the Falken MT. Get what you need.

I got e but I'm thinking it might be Overkill so I might switch to P. I wouldn't really consider doing that with any other Tire but these seem to be a little tougher then most of the P rated tires out there. If I do switch, it would just be for ride quality, perhaps a little gas mileage Improvement due to the weight difference. Honestly, I can live with either one. I just wanted to see what you guys might think

And now after all that, I realize maybe you were not asking me LOL

Hey guy I just got the 10ply wildpeak at3w on my 18 TRD OR. So far today I'm in love. I stepped up to 265/75 16s. I find the ride much softer than the goodyear adventure at I have from factory. I also find these tires far more grippy. I'm going to post pics tomorrow. I finally started to mod my taco. I loved this truck stock but its time to show her how much.
