FALL 2012 TRAIL RUN/CAMPING TRIP

I wish man, I feel like I wills never get them done.

Did i read that right!? Mini fridge!!!!! That has awesomeness all over it haha and sure i have no problem welding them on. I dont know how to weld tho and i dont have a welder.

 

My chick is stuck working all weekend so im rolling solo this trip. I dont want to hit the mountain too early by myself cuz ill just get bored n start drinking haha. Also ive never been up the back way before but im sure i could find the trail if i need to.

Stefen- do u want to meet up before u head up or should i go up earlier to get the spot n start setting camp?

Andrew- the more i think about the install i thinking that with us doing both simultaneously and provided all goes well we can prob do it in about an hour. Wake up with the sun, eat, install and we should have plenty of time to spare before the rice peak run.

 

Then up with the sun i will be! We wont miss the run. I have faith in all of our combined knowledge haha it shouldnt be a problem.

Once I get my armor and suspension upgrade and my RTT I will be getting an ARB fridge for the bed on a rail system. Yeah you guys can do the bolt on thing and then I gf you want down the road I can weld it for you.

 

I will take you up on that down the road. They will be a permant fixture on my truck so why not weld them on!? Plus making them stronger. I see no down side of this haha. Plus a mod day too.

Yeah, my buddy has a welder, grinder, bender and every tool you could ever need for wiring and electronics. so we can d a mod day whenever anyone wants to. I am working on my truck at his house every weekend anyway. And welding them will make them stronger so win win.

 

I know we're straying off topic again (sorry op) but i was actually happy to find a bolt on set up for a good price. I will own this truck for a long time and the way i figure it if i ever really get into the sliders n fuck em up bad i can just unbolt them and throw a new set on. If they were welded on though u'd be looking at having to cut the weld beads, then grind it back to flat. Sounds like nothing i want to deal with. I figure the chances of snapping 1/2" grade 8 bolts is not high but if it happens u can just buy new ones. Just my 2¢

My girl has decided to say f phx and come on a wicked awesome trip with us. So now one more girl wil be in the mix. More girls better trip. Right!? Even tho they are takin. But atleast they can keep each other company and off our backs during mods haha

 

My girl Tawni always comes with and my buddy Andrews girl Kyla does too so they will both also be there. I agree with both of you. But snapping the bolts on the trail would be a huge pain. There is no way you are gong to snap the welds though. I have had all 4 tires off the ground with my weight supported by my sliders. If you have a good set then you dont have to worry about the actual sliders themselves getting smashed. I only ever scrape the paint off and I wheel almost every weekend. I also know I am never going back to stock so if thats your concern then bolt ons are a good choice, just gotta weigh your situation. just my .02

 

Good point mike. Ill never go back to stock so thats not the concern but sheering one off on the trail would be a real bitch to deal with. Maybe ill pick up a few spares to have on board juat in case. Convinced my girl to drive up sat night n stay the night so all our women will get to meet too. Good shit

Just about done getting my windshield replaced and then I'll be ready to go!

 

So whats the route to get to the campsite location. I see the oracle to rice peak route but is there a paved road to get to the campsite?

 

Yeah i guess its off catalina hwy. And good with the windshield! We will all try not to fling rocks up at you! Haha
