This may only apply to 2011 models, but there is a problem with the ventilation intake grille located on the cowl at base of windshield. The slots are too big and leaves, acorns and twigs get into the system.
They eventually get through the cabin filter and into the blower motor area.
I take a shop vac and throughly vacum out the cowl area. Then remove the cabin filter per instructions in manual and check it.
Then, and this is important part, I attach a piece of garden hose to the hose of the shop vac and stick it inside the blower motor. This removes the twigs, leaves, etc. that got past the cabin filter-and they will. Need the garden hose because it is more pliable and easier to use than hose on shop vac.
Dealer charges about $90 to do this for you, but they drop the blower motor assembly. They also want to change the cabin filter while at it.
I do this a few times per year, but always after the leaves stop falling. Always vacum out cowl area before washing the truck.
