Fall Run 2018 @ Barnwell Mtn - Oct 26-28th

A little over a month away until the 2018 Fall Run hosted by the Houston Chapter for TX4WD at Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area. This is a come all event where there is not preregistration required and all you need to do is show up and pay the day use fees for Barnwell Mountain or camp fees if you want to camp overnight!​

TreadLightly! Master Tread Trainer Course​

There is going to be a Master Tread Trainer course offered on Friday, October 26th, from 9am-6pm at Barnwell. The course price includes a one year membership or renewal to Tread Lightly (includes some good rebates and such if you don't have one) as well as some great education materials and then discounts once you become a Master Tread Trainer.

I have signed up, as I nor Tread Lightly knows when this course could be offered in this area again as this is a Master Tread Trainer course and not just a Tread Trainer course as this course is taught by Tread Lightly Staff. Master Tread Trainers are the ones that end up teaching Tread Trainer courses FYI. You have all the responsibilities and benefits of a Tread Trainer but also are committed to hosting at least one Tread Trainer course within two years of your initial training date. This is currently the highest qualification Tread Lightly provides.

Spots are very limited on this. So if you are interested in doing this, sign up soon... East Texas does not have any Master Tread Trainers (all in DFW or Houston), Louisiana has none, Arkansas only has 3... I am looking to change that for Tyler at least.

If you are a TMTC Member, there will also be a member meeting on Saturday from 1:30p-2:30pm, this will be good to attend to hear about upcoming changes for Barnwell or TMTC news and events.

yeah but it wont have any cabinets in it. But... i can still camp in it, and i wont have the RTT weighing me down on the trails/hill climbs.

This will also be a good first test for the trailer as the road to the camping spot is pretty long and bumpy, curious to see how it handles and how much my gear bounces around on the inside.

 

We're excited to be donating things for the raffle and we're all about groups that support Tread Lightly! I wish I could personally make it, but I hope you all have a blast!

 

We appreciate it a ton as well @Taylor@KC HiLiTES! I am pretty excited to be able to do the Master Tread Trainer course and hopefully become a Master Tread Trainer and be one of the first in the East Texas area.

Pretty much, there is not a Master Tread Trainer in the East Texas area, they are all in DFW and then down south in Houston/Austin/SA area. Lousiana does not have a single one either, and Arkansas has three. I have been wanting to do a regular Tread Trainer course for a while to get some more skills behind me from Tread Lightly, but this opportunity allows me to become a Master Tread Trainer that would allow me to be teach the Tread Trainer courses if I wanted to or if groups in East Texas wanted a course taught, etc. I could then be able to provide these things at different events that I attend and so forth as well.
Also, would look good on a resume lol.

 

So it’s a class to teach people how not to be dumbasses and to not destroy our trail systems? Seems like a common sense deal to me but I’ve spent my whole life in the woods so I may take it for granted that others are aware of what’s right or wrong.

In short yes, but allows the opportunity for other things here and there. Could potentially use it to work with local parks and improve trail systems, provide material, signage, etc, etc. Different types of things.
