    This applies to 2011 models and maybe others. The grille for the ventilation system at the top of the firewall is poorly designed. Gasps are way too big. It allows leaves, acorns, twigs and other debris to get in and fall into the blower unit and clog the cabin filter. Yes, they do get past the cabin filter.
    I vacum my grille about every 2-3 weeks as the truck sits outside. I also periodically remove the cabin filter and stick the hose from vacum cleaner into the blower unit.
    Or you can pay the dealer about $80 to clean out the blower unit.

    And those damn mice are looking for a warm home. They follow the same path to the cabin filter.
