I know, on the rug thing. It doesn't work for me, and never has, and yea I've tried it with non-snapping stuff like trophy cases recently.

The problem I have is, I do 99.9% of everything on the keyboard. But Bethesda, in their fucking wisdom, fucked up the key bind remappings in a new and creative way. See, I don't WASD, I use the arrow keys and remap the other assorted movement keys around there....I.E. sneak is right CTRL, jump is right shift, sprint is numpad 0, that kind of thing. For all previous Bethsoft games, this wasn't a problem, including Skyrim and the other Elder Scrolls games.

In FO4, when you open workshop mode, the default controls for navigation within the workshop are the arrow keys. And they don't care if you have remapped the movement controls over them, they ignore you. So, in order to be able to physically move while in workshop mode, I had to buy a controller to use with my PC, and the Steam Controller worked best.

HOWEVER, once you activate a controller, ALL pc keyboard and mouse inputs are disabled. So I can't hold E to grab, because as soon as I grab the controller...no keyboard input!

I know, I'm fuckin' weird and I had 'tarded problems.

Heh. I'm prolly one of about 4 people on the planet that would have this problem, honestly. Because not only is this only a PC problem, but it's a problem that only effect those that don't WASD. And, to be honest, noone I know IRL that does PC gaming doesn't WASD besides me.

Still doesn't make sense to me that holding grab ( select ) for you doesn't select all though , thats a vanilla function of the select button

When I was about 6yrs old till about 13yrs old I was a Arrow keys kid, but i played shit like doom and commander keen and quake. Games where simpler and slower back then. One day I just started using WASD and stuck ..... i dont even know what made me switch.

Can you use the vertical axis only select in workshop mode ?

On PS4 its select the item then hold R2 and X

I use that one all the time

In workshop mode on PS4 you can select an item and then limit its travel to the vertical axis only by holding R2 and X

I use it all the time to fine tune the heights of walls etc without altering their orientation in any other axis

For example building a concrete wall up or down a slope . Snap the walls all together then come back and use the vertical axis only grab to move them down or up to make the wall still continuous but stepped

    lulz

I get the reference, but I never even got all the way through the first movie, much less any sequels. I lurve me some Jackie Chan, but Chris Tucker is a non-starter for me in a movie.

But, at any rate...very apt! I don't know what "vertical axis only select" is, though I can sorta infer by the description. Like I said, I've done some google searching, but the default control button mappings for Steam Controllers is kinda weird, and since I also don't play with or launch games from 'big picture mode' they are even different-er still, because apparently it loads yet a DIFFERENT different UI config for the controller if you launch the game from there.

Like I said, they went Full Retard in this one.

Well, butter my ass and call me biscuit

The select all works now...I dug into the config files and poked a bit....the delay timer for 'select' to go to 'select all' was set to 5000 millisecond for some reason. I nuked a few 0s off of that and now it works. So I'm pretty darn happy there. The rug glitch still don't work, but I can sorta make the post trick work a bit. That one may take a bit of getting used to.

It just occurred to me to ask...you guys have that thing where, if you are aggroed on something and you go through a door and zone out, the aggroed mobs come with you to the other side of the door, right?
