Well, In place of Halo you can put *any FPS twitch console title that you get teabagged by over-caffeinated 12 year olds*

I regularly over caffeinated on any game. It usually ends up with me overkilling things lol.

Nukaworld? I just finally got a new TV downstairs. Should I fire up the old Xbone?

I beat it, but can't say I'm all that great on it. I'd be willing to jump back in and screw around a bit. PS4?

And as far as ammo, I'm usually in scavenger mode too. I've learned to jump around from gun to gun to not run out of my favorite of my last resort gun (shotgun usually). I've found that for any bad guy you kill, he probably has enough ammo on him for you to break even. The trouble I found is when you encounter large groups and have to engage them all before scavenging the bodies.

The new DLC went live tonight

I won't play it for a couple days (shit always seems to break and need fixing, so I give it a bit to get patched before venturing in)

And I game exclusively on PC, so I can't comment on what you should do with your ....uhh, Bone

LOL. Yeah I remember that. I'm all depressed because of the AMD leaks that are showing their new processor to potentially be a Core architecture killer. I might be in and out of Skylake lol.

    Don't be.

I've been in the business of building and maintaining PC and server hardware for 20 years now.

AMD occasionally gets lucky with a singular design that keeps Intel pseudo-honest for a while. And then the superior engineering and designs take back the mantles of performance, cooling, efficiency, price, etc to send them back to the drawing boards.

Frankly I think Intel gives AMD tech hints every so often just so they have a 'competitor' to keep business booming with specific release cycles. At fairly regular intervals, you find "OMG! NEW CLOCKSPEED!" and "HOLY SHIT NEW LOW POWER" or "WOW, LOOK AT THIS COOLING!" releases for a cycle...it keeps AMD in business another 2 years.

Then, a few months later, Intel fabs up a new *insert dipshit marketing named chipset* that beats AMDs best by 5-10 %. Another 6 months, and they announce a whole new line of CPUs (and motherboards, and RAM, and coolers, and power supplies, and....) that'll force the drooling idiot fanbois to upgrade to all new hardware so they can ... uh, play Crysis at 41 FPS while the AMDs are still at 28. Whee?

This has been going on since the early 90s, when I got into it. AMDs have, as a general rule of thumb: worse drivers, shittier efficiency, more power draw, more heat production, more production flaws, and/or more wiring problems with their hardware. Every (15+ x months plus/minus the size of Intel's latest check/leak) they have a groundbreaking design leak that beats intel's best current designs for...like, 6 months.

    Rinse/repeat

Count me an AMD fanboy. I like that we have options still on the hardware side. If I upgrade it'll be so I can be intel free as much as it will be for any minute gain in FPS. This is actually the first time in a decade they have a design that appears to best Intels at several key benchmarks that relate to gaming and enthusiast use.

I totally get what you are saying. Yes, AMD is once again at deaths door financially and, like what typically happens, they need the hype of a new design to keep them going a few more years. However, for the first time in a decade, they aren't going to release a half ass design on a 2 generations behind lithography just to appeal to fanboys. They are releasing a design that third party vendors are actually talking about. It's the same lithography as intel is using for Skylake AND it will use a new architecture designed by the guy who gave us the Athlon 64... which is basically the best chip AMD has made to date. This will likely put them back at the old Athlon 64 days when they could go blow for blow with intel at all levels with us pions receiving the benefits of the competition. I'm legitimately excited though I can understand why you are not.

Powerwise similar lithography should put these chips neck to neck with intel. At worst a 20 watt difference. Not the 100 watt difference the FX line was toting at release to barely go head to head with an intel i5.

As for compatibility, I'm not sure where you are going with that one. This isn't the 90's where one company writes a new instruction set that the other company can't use unless they clean room a fix that happens to work. AMD and intel are bound by so many patents that basically one side and the other can, in one way or another, use each others instruction sets as they choose. On the video card side sure but AMD sponsors just as many companies as nVidia does now. Every game favors the sponsor and unless you are going to swap cards for every game you have to live with the first few weeks being painful sometimes.

As for binning and flaws... nVidia and intel have been more guilty of that in the last 3 years. Think about all the debacles those two have had (intels thermal paste issues and nVidia's Vram bullshit) in that time frame. AMD? Basically none since they cleaned up their driver support program.

I had to drop my AMD CPU support long ago after the Phenom line just couldn't cut it against what intel was offering at the same price point. If AMD manages to jump basically three generations and leap past intel... I'll be there to support them with my disposable income.

I'll drop this here and that'll be the end of my hardware blatherings :) Real competition is good for us on the outside buying /building rigs!

Well shit. I'm still rocking a 2500k Sandy. Completely stock still. Only under an AIO.

Ain't nothin' wrong with that...the Sandy is a rock-solid CPU.

That's the thing: You don't *have* to have the newest biggest most expensive blingingest CPU/GPU in your rig to enjoy your gaming. But for those that want to spend the money, it's there. That's the tech drive to develop the new hardware and standards at work.

Agree. The 2500k is doing fine for me. My next hardware change will probably be when I feel like redoing the whole case/setup. I'm still in love with the looks of the Z97 Sabertooth. They have the Arctic one as well.
I disassembled my HAF912, deriveted, painted completely black, and made a 240mm AIO fit with 4 fans. Love the case. I'll probably hand this one down to my kid and start from scratch down the road.

    I know how you feel.

I've been rockin' the Thor 2 full tower for about 5 years now, and she's taking a beatin'. I think my current build will be her last...next up will be a fresh ground-up new rig with a full closed-loop liquid chiller system

I read a bunch of comments that Nuka World is super buggy and I haven't started it yet , and PS4 players have any problems ?

    First off welcome back.
Second, yes it is buggy on PS4 but it hasn't stopped me from playing. A few freezes and stuff like that, but I haven't had to restart the game or console.

I know I've waited till now to play for buggy rumors. And I also noted that Steam has downloaded at least one update for it since the DLC went live. I'm about to dive in on my PC now
