Fallout 76

i think its great they are multiplayer. i just dont enjoy games that force you to play with others as much anymore. back in college when i played more it would have been fun.

that wouldnt be so bad but i dont think thatll be the scenario

 

Looks promising so far. Little bit of GTA style free form with questing and base building. I'll be curious to see how they handle the player leveling and server access. A potential down side is being a single player or newb and constantly getting destroyed by gangs of high level players.

I feel the same way. I like to hop in for an hour or two here and there. So itll be interesting to see how it goes for solo players. Like if its a sort of like saying you can play solo in a MMO type deal or if itll truly be you can do everything solo

 

Bingo. I have a 4 month old and a 60 hour a week job. I get like an hour a month to play games anymore.

 

I'm looking at 76 as not only an exciting prequel to the existing Fallout series, but also as a test bed for Fallout 5.

From a canonical perspective, the game's story is depressing considering that this control Vault and the efforts of it's inhabitants is ultimately unsuccessful. In the two hundred years between the events of 76 and Fallout 3, no progression was achieved to restore anything Americana or a peaceful and lawful (democratic or otherwise) society.

Agreed, especially in combination with the new system that Bethesda has created to show dynamic weather systems across the map in real time.

Where did you order the Collector's Edition?

The BETA is going to be interesting to say the least. It will either kill or amp the hype for the game.

However, according to Todd Howard you can play it as a single player game, with the caveat mentioned by @Arailt below:

Definitely a concern.

As much as I'm giddy about launching a nuclear missle to take out the weakest hostile creature in the game, or some jerk who looks at me cross-eyed, I'm genuinely afraid of the nuclear missile feature being grossly abused to ruin the gameplay and story.

It's going to be like rust. Kinda gay but whatever.

 

This will essentially be Fallout's ESO. I'm sure Fallout 5 will be only single player. Like stated I'm just in it for the t51 helmet.

 

Without:
1. the loss of progression when character death occurs;
2. Dev abandonment; and,
3. Penises.

 

That's a good way to think about it IMHO. Like I said, I really think that 76 is the test bed for a lot of what we'll see, or at least what the developers want to use, in Fallout 5. For example: assuming FO:5 will use a new game engine, or a radically evolved version of the current engine... I'd imagine it's a lot easier to build it incrementally than try to do it all at once. The new weather/environment/whatever Todd Howard called it last night at BE3 might be a piece of that concept. It's just a thought, and I'm probably completely wrong, but I'm nonetheless excited about 76 and FO:5.
