So after flushing the heep, new radiator hoses and t-stat I was still getting ocassional hot while driving it from time to time. So today I said screw it and replaced the water pump and coolant temp sensor. Wouldn't ya know the water pump was on it's way out. It was making a lovely sound it shouldn't. The heep you can tell was much happier. Just got to get any remaining air out and it should be good to go. Only parts of cooling system I didn't replace were the radiator and electric fan now lol.20170812_171055.jpg

I like jeeps too:anonymous: it's a good thing you caught that when it started making noise, rather than drive, have it let go and overheat. How is the wife enjoying her new jeep? Any pics of the trim parts you painted, installed?

She hasn't driven it yet because the temp gauge was all over the place. I pegged it once but instantly happened as I pulled into my driveway. Other days it was fine, you couldn't hear any noise from it until I removed it. So I think it was partially working off and on.

Tune-up, throttle body cleaning, front and rear diff fluid flush. Going to have a shop do the transmission and probably service the 4x4 transfer case as well. I just got some clay bars last weekend so I may try to clay it, polish, then wax it soon too.

My neighbor is a jeep guy. I ask him why all the time. In the 3 years he's been my neighbor I've seen it towed away at least 3 times. My favorite though was when the alternator burst in to flames while it was idling in his driveway.

They can be maintenance intensive if ignored. Toyota's and Hondas are the only manufactures that due well still if ignored.

I think he got one that was built by a couple alcoholics on a Monday morning. Similar to my Xterra.

It's unfortunate, it's super nice and super plush ride.

So it appears my heep may have done some sitting. Right after getting it we had a good rain storm and I found a wet passenger floor board. Figured no big deal has known drainage issues for ones with sunroof which I unclogged and fixed. Well today it was damp so the heater core is probably on it's way out which is usually attributed to sitting lol. I guess I know what I'm doing soon.
