I'm a big Tool fan , but I guarantee you more people know who Christian Bale is and for sure who Pam Anderson is than Maynard James Keenan

You are confusing talent with fame

The thread title says "famous", not talented.

I think he may be thinking of "importance" or "value". I don't know how though, I literally gave him the definition of famous and he insists otherwise.

Arguing with the simple-minded is going to give me an ulcer.

Maybe so, but that's a really old model year. It looked a whole lot better back in 1991. ;)

It's got way too much added plastic and stuff on it now.

I have never heard of him before. He must not be famous either.

    Seriously.

That was clever and made me chuckle, thanks OZ-T (you're famous in my book)

Also, I've heard of Tool but never new any of the band members' names, those are teetering on the edge of famous.

Metal would be a word most people who know music would most likely not use to descibe tool's genre. Stupid would be one of the last words people that understand music would use. They play the majority of their stuff in 7/4 time signatures, which is not easy to count, much less play, unlike ur typical 4/4 or 6/8 mainstream pop/poprock/hiphop r&b/ or country (which is technically not music but popular among people that need auditory stimulation and lack the ability to appreciate musicians and their talents)

    For what it's worth:

Google trends displays indexed interest over time for given search terms:

    Scores for July 2014:
Christian Bale: 18 Google Trends for Christian Bale
Pamela Andersen: 31 Google Trends for Pamela Andersen
Maynard James Keenan: 14 Google Trends for Maynard James Keenan

Interestingly enough, if you plot the three of them together to draw some relative comparison, it appears that Pamela kicks everyone's butt (at least historically), but has had a steady marked decline in popularity since Google started recording data in 2004. Christian Bale has only become competitive in the past year, and Maynard James Keenan barely registers.

Google Trends comparison of all three
