    Hey guys,

I am getting mixed answers for which fan clutch to get for my truck. I currently have the original green fan clutch since I have the tow package with the 3.4L v6 4x4. I want to replace it with the exact one (Aisin).

Both rock Auto and Amazon tell me the Aisin FCT-013 is the exact replacement (Aisin catalog says its Toyota's part # 16210-62011 is FCT-013 too). However, cross referencing that to the Toyota parts guide it says 16210-62011 is the fan clutch for the 4cyl and not the 6 cyl... The Toyota parts guide says 08921-04950 is the clutch fan for the 3.4L v6. That parts number spits out the Aisin FCT-064.

I have called 2 different Toyota parts departments. The first couldn't figure out how to look up the fan clutch... The second gave me a parts # for AC compressor clutch (per the Toyota parts guide)...

I read an old thread on yotatech (2002) that says 16210-62011 (FCT-013) is the TSB for the 3.4L v6 fan clutch to increase towing capacity (green clutch). Now, that person could be wrong. Or the old Toyota parts guide could be wrong since its obviously printed pre TSB. That is why I am all confused now. I want the green Aisin fan clutch. Who is correct?!?

08921-04950 is the # for the green hub "heavy duty" fan clutch for the 3.4. I am reading it off the Toyota box it came in. If that's not enough I could take a pic, but happy hour is getting pretty close.

RockAuto screws up applications all the time.

Thanks for the answer, Dirty Pool! If you want to snap a pic you can, but I believe ya. Where did you purchase it at?

I was actually just checkingout parts factory camel back toyota. Pretty much the same thing as yours. Looks to be about the cheapest so far. $128+ taxes and shipping. I bet my local dealer won't be cheaper than that. How easy was the install?

I just replaced mine with the aisin part from rockauto. It said it was the heavy duty model for the tow package and was green where it bolted to the pulley. Install is stupid easy, 4 bolts to get the clutch off and 6 bolts holding the fan on. It's not even a 1 beer job.

I think it was 90bucks or something like that.

Weird, was it the FCT-013 model? Mine is a '96. The '02 and '96 have the same exact models for fan clutches on rockauto. The only difference is yours says for tow package next to the Aisin one. I also think mine has only 4 bolts holding the clutch to the fan.. Strange.

How can you tell the clutch is bad?

Yes, how can you tell, if when the engine is stone cold & it's fairly hard to turn? Or just when it has gotten loud
    (moveing lots of air)?

It could have been 4 bolts on the fan, the stock fan came off the old clutch and went right on the new one. You are overthinking it, order the aisin clutch and slap it on there!!

My truck was getting super hot in traffic and overheating on the trail. I had a friend look at it while the engine was hot and he could freely spin the fan and said it should be locked up when hot.

I have no more roar on start up is the obvious one. Just silence when I start. Also, i can only get it to turn an inch with the engine cold. We shot it with a temp gun when it was overheating. The fan never once spun up. It just spun the same at every temp. It barely pushes any air at all.

I like your style!! I'll order from RockAuto. If its not the one I want i'll just send it back!

Yeah, I flushed my coolant and changed the thermostat. That helped a bit for me. I can drive around in town with the AC on full blast and I stay below half UNTIL I stop for too long. Or when I shut it off for a few minutes after driving around and then turn it back on. Temp goes above half until I start driving. Then it immediately drops back to normal. I need that wind! ha

Is there any way to confirm that the Aisin FCT-013 matches the green OEM heavy duty? Are there part numbers or specs that show similar functionality?
