So about a week ago with my AC on at medium it stopped suddenly then started again for about a min then stopped and will not turn on at all. Trying to finger out what I should replace or do and if anyone had similar problems? Also I checked my fuses only one I see that could be AC that I seen was was marked ACC idk if that is accelerant or something else. my truck is a 01 Tacoma prerunner SR5 2wd. let me know what you guys think thank you!

Break out the Meter check the voltage at the blower Motor .

If you have system voltage time for a new blower motor

If it works only on High good chance the Resistor is open

If no voltage check if you have it at the blower switch .

    Go from there .

Try this... Find the blower fan housing. Can't remember what it looks like in a 1st gen, but in a 2nd gend it is a round, black, plastic piece approx 6in in diameter. Probably up above the passenger footwell. Have the fan on high and give it some love, smack it around a bit just hitting it with your hand. Let us know what you find out. The blower motor itself could be giving up the ghost.

locate the blower motor under dash behind glove box and connect 12v to it and if it works the fan is good and check the resistor relay (also right there by the fan) and see if you have 12v to it, if you do then the resistor is bad, if no voltage there then it could be your main climate control (3 switch panel) has crapped out on you

So what did you find?

I only ask since my meter is a POS and I need to pick up a new one... my system had the same exact symptom today but it came back and so far its working fine.

That's funny because I was about to take it apart then on my way to work about a week later it just started working fine all by it's self again and has been working ever since!

Winter is coming. If you need heat where you live, dig in now and find the problem while the weather is good.

The fix for me was simply removing the electrical connection to the fan, cleaning the contacts on both, and put it back together. 100k miles on the truck now.

Before that I checked and had 12v to the fan measured at the connector. So I knew it was either a bad fan or the connections were corroded - the latter.
