OK, so post the correct part numbers for the resistor and pigtail and which color harness wires go to which color pigtail wires. Obviously, the pigtail part number on the sticker in your pic is not correct.

Also, if there is a TSB about this fix, post the TSB number.

Just replaced my wiring harness (yes - one burnt spot) and the resistor. Easy Peasy with the parts from Dorman (Dorman - Techoice 973-582 Blower Motor Resistor Kit with Harness) via Amazon. Price was $21.68. Most difficult part is the back side screw of the resister holder. Will advise if this fix does not solve the problem for good.

Yes. I can verify because I just replace mine. There is a 3rd redesigned blower resistor and a wire harness.

    Blower Resistor Pt.# 87138-04070
    Wire harness Pt# 82141-04Q80

CudaRae? According to your diagram I did .....

    A3
    B4
    C2
    D1

.........and it works but low and med low seems to have very little difference. Could just be me. At the moment, I'm happy. I live in Texas. Already getting warm!

    EDIT JUNE 4, 2019
Ok.....I replaced both parts and must have something missed wired.

I should have: Low, Med Low, Med High, High

I have : Med Low, Med Low, Med High, High

I'm sure I'll figure it out one day.

Just got an 06 ....I have seen plenty of discussion on fans only working on high.
Mine does not do anything on the low speed, but all other speeds work fine?
Any ideas? Is it most likely the same problem?

Yes it is most likely a defective terminal at the connection to the resistor.

It has been a week and my new resistor and wiring harness are working great. I bought the Dorman kit from Amazon for $22.

I'm a newbie on here with the same issue on my 2008 Tacoma - fan only works on high speed. Just ordered the Dorman kit from Amazon myself. Hoping it's not too complicated to replace.

Like others, I removed the passenger seat for my mobility. Removing the 2 screws that hold in the resister was fairly easy. Re-installing the back screw was challenging. Kinda blind and I was on my back just trying to feel my way around. I love this fix. Didn't know how much I use the lower fan speeds. Attached are some notes and photos from various posts here on TW.

Wow, I totally just made sure the wires weren’t loose and it started working again. My symptoms were just blowing on HI.

If your connector has a burnt spot like my did (see photo), then it is not just loose wires. One of my wires was also compromised. I wish you well that it was just loose wires, but just in case it starts acting up again.....IMG_20190622_1303496.jpg IMG_20190622_1304014.jpg

Yep so far so good. This will be my next thing to inspect if it goes bad again.

The way you wired yours worked perfect for me. Thanks for taking time to write it up. This was the only thing I could find on how to rewrite the new plug. Thanks again!

Well finally did this as well. Thank you for all the postings. I bought the Dorman kit on Amazon about a month ago. Mine has been on/off working on only the high speed for sometime but recently it’s almost full time only. I didn’t replace the wires as they seemed ok and I was short on time. Just replaced the resistor and so far works. I’m a FL so need to have this working. Was a quick and easy fix, except for that rear screw.

Has anyone actually fixed this permanently? I took my truck in and they replaced the resistor and it started happening about two weeks later.

I took it in again and this time they said I had to change the blower motor and the wiring harness/connector. They wanted $500+ to do the change. I am hesitate to do it and only have it stop working a few week or months later.

The guys/girls at the shop are a bunch of morons. You made no mention of the resistor connector, so I'm gonna assume they didn't replace it. You have to replace the resistor and connector at the same time. It's about a 20 minute/2 beer job. 30 minutes if you make it a 3 beer job.

$500 is highway robbery for whatever they plan on doing. Read here on TW and fix it yourself.

I know people are having issues with the fan switch only working on high. The problem with mine is that high does not work. All the other speeds to but not high. It blows out very little. I've looked at the connector and nothing looked burned.

Any thoughts on whats going on or where to look next?

OK, so I've been banging my head against the wall the past two weeks because I purchased the latest resistor and square plug to fix the issue of my fan motor only running on high. None of the threads or Toyota dealerships I talked to had the right answers on how to wire this new square wire harness plug for my situation. So after trying many different ways, I landed on the wire combination below that gave me four distinctive fan motor speeds. The wire colors connected between the old wires and new wire harness make no rational sense and the pin out numbers between the old and new plug do not line up. But it works and hopefully this helps someone else fix their issue as there seems to be little information available right now on how to wire these new plugs and resistors (latest generation of Toyota OEM).

My specific situation is I have a 2011 Tacoma with the flat plug and bad resistor. I replaced with the part numbers below. Results and situations may vary but the wire connections below worked for me.

    Blower Resistor Pt.# 87138-04070
    Wire harness Pt# 82141-04Q80

    Wire connections:

Old wire harness color >>> new plug wire color

    Green/Yel >> White
    Blue/Black>>Green
    White/Blue>>White/Black
    White/Black>>Blue
