I've been waiting to drop this in this thread for a minute... We purchased a GFC V2 used as a temporary measure while we wait out the Drifter. We just camp too much to continue to deal with our old Tepui and obviously there is little certainty on when we will get our camper. It was not easy to find one - we searched all the forums and Craigslist all over the western US and there were two to choose from. We got lucky and pleaded with the owner to hold it for us and by some miracle he agreed. He said when we picked it up that he had eight offers in the first hour after posting. We've not had it long, maybe three weeks, but we have traveled to Baja with it and it was genuinely a revolutionary experience in terms of ease and security for our stuff. It's definitely a low-frills option, but light years ahead of an RTT.

Just want to put it out there, we will be selling it when our Vagabond is ready for install and would gladly prioritize a sale to someone in here in the same boat as us. Who knows when this will be; we are build #229. We did get the final invoice letter too, but with 50+ people still in front of us I am not a huge fan of releasing that payment just yet. We'll sell the GFC for exactly what we paid for it, and I suspect whoever takes it can do the same down the road given current demand.

If you are interested, send me a PM. It would be cool if this camper could continue to make it's way into the hands of others that are waiting for their orders in the future as well.

I literally did the same exact thing this week.. driving down to Bend tomorrow to pick up a GFC that was built three months ago (1/2022). Tired of waiting for the Nomad, but not giving up on Vagabond.

I’ll be posting the GFC for sale once I have a scheduled install date. Vagabond or bust, baby. Stoked to have found this as a plush holdover until then.

    Man, I’m jealous.

I finally found a decent deal on a standard topper/canopy for mine to hold me through summer since it seems my drifter won’t be ready until after summer…hopefully by fall…hopefully

Good move to make the wait easier! We’ve benefited by being able to continue our adventures in our old first Gen with a beat-up Flippac and a bonus has been the delay is allowing us to get the new truck ready for the Drifter…not to mention empty my wallet. Here's our first camping rig, unfortunately, don’t think we will be able to part with it even after we get the new rig up and running.

Pretty sweet "old" rig! We have been prepping for the Drifter with this time as well. Big springs, Hammer Hangers, bed stiffeners, sealing, wiring, etc. etc. etc.

Thanks, she has been a war horse, but closing in on 300K and we’re wanting something a bit more off road focused with the Drifter build. Looking at your list we have much more to do! So far we’ve got the rear seat delete, armor, Goose gear bed build, and tires; currently debating on suspension, Dobinsons springs and possibly Radflo shocks…that may change up to the point it’s bolted on. See plenty to keep us entertained.

Highly recommend the Archive Hammer Hangers or the BAMF hangers to you or anyone that is planning to add a camper/bed build. Really adds crucial stiffening to the rear end that improves load control and handling considerably. It's not what most folks bolt on first but they definitely help the suspension do it's job waaay better. I could go on and on but we might get booted over to the Drifter builds thread LOL.

After 2.5 years we have our camper! But I know what you really want is any update on what I saw in the shop. I saw builds with the names Bryan N (?), Marshall R, Bradley R, and Eric C. I took pics so if one of these is yours message me

Got an email for my second invoice last night (order #243) with a batch starting date of early summer, but I am requesting to push my order back as I anticipate being in another truck within the year. Thought I would drop an update for those with skin in the game.

Good to see continued movement, appreciate the update. What truck for the new ride?
