It’s an alu-cab canopy camper. Another great camper. Not sure how it’s photo here is relevant though :crapstorm:

Not like I was going any other direction but I did take a hard look at it last overland show. The bed configuration was a no go for me and just solidified the fact that I made the right choice with VO.

Yep, wrong thread. You can gloat in the Wedge Life thread on how you got a very different product.

I'll take my wait, 200 pounds less strain on my truck, and the at least $2000 I'll save and put it towards Titan swapping my suspension. You're on the wrong forum, buddy.

I looked at them before going with a Snap Treehouse (absolutely loved that thing) but the Alu-Cabs just leave too much gap between camper and cab for my liking. They are amazingly well built and alu-cab is obviously well established but after my truck and treehouse got totaled it just made more sense to go with a VO Drifter.

You did say that…knowing that this community is anxiously waiting for their camper, many ordered over 2 years ago.

I’m sure everyone has their reasons they selected VO and are willing to wait over others including the AC and I’ll be glad to share my specific observations/criticisms of the AC and why I’m waiting for VO.
1 - The AC is heavier with a higher COG
    2 - I didn’t want to loose the tailgate
3 - AC is mass produced to fit more platforms resulting in 6” of lost bed space
4 - didn’t want to deal with another camper with vertical sides after years with our old Camper

Not that the AC is a bad product, just not what fit my needs. Happy for you that you were able to get what you selected quickly and I’m sure there is a community elsewhere that would better appreciate your purchase.

Outside observation, but here it goes:. Jerry was in the same boat that most of you are/were in. He jumped-ship to another product(which admittedly some of you have talked about doing) and is happy with his decision. His comments may seem snarky, but looks like he got plenty of the same when he initially announced this a couple months ago(in this very thread).

Yes, all you are stating are FACTS about the differences between the two campers. He is just stating the FACT that he's happy with his decision. The only thing that doesn't belong here are rude comments a couple of you have made telling him to leave.

This 'my wedge camper is better than yours' attitude is stupid. I honestly think he was just giving an update to his last post.

    My $ .02

Way I see it is, there’s no need for the update as this thread is about drifters. Last update needed would have been saying he’s moving on to a different product.

Its like when people sell their Tacoma and buy another truck but need to make sure people know on a Tacoma only thread how great their new truck is.

    One less sprinter though!!

Not discrediting your interpretation, but I think a lot of other people interpreted his response as an attempt to rub it in our face that he bailed on VO and got his camper already….rather than just provide an update.

Regardless, AC’s are cool campers, they just aren’t what this particular thread is about. I’m not trying to hate on the guy, but that post has no reason to be here.

Unfortunately, it seems nobody has an update on when they will receive their drifter so comments unrelated to the actual thread are trickling in. A post that can easily be seen as throwing shade on vagabond just happens to be an easy target…

How many months until you get your first email/message from the VO after your order?
FYI, I knew what I have gotten myself into and I was okay when I placed the order. Asking out of curiosity.

Unfortunately quite a few…it will depend on how fast their building campers and how you move up in the line.

A small update for a ray of sunshine.

I dropped by the shop the other day with low expectations. I left feeling pretty good though.
The next batch should be starting soon, maybe next week. There was (if I recall correctly) eight Drifter tops on the floor and Nomad tops expected at any time. Also, lower aluminum parts were forthcoming, they might even be on the floor by now.
I was told the next batch would be bigger maybe fourteen or so with a faster build time.

    Keep the faith folks!

edit: @Swatdude1 I believe your the one with the Nomad waiting on the Tern door, your camper is looking good. Just sitting in the corner chilling.
