only reason the average age is up is because many retirees now work at fast food restaurants. partly because most young kids are not worth a crap with near zero work ethic, so the old timers are sought after.

and lets see those corporate numbers you say are going up. volume...maybe (but doubtful). percent of revenue...probably not.

The old saying a penny earned is a penny gained really doesn't hold true anymore.

A penny saved is a penny earned?

    You're exactly correct.

And ya know, I think I've done ok in the career world...if you've read above you can see (and it's needless to say) my parents didn't help me go to college. And NEVER once did they or myself ever ask for or get any sort if government aid.

You need to take off the rose colored glasses either that or you are part of the 1% By the way I'm 68 when I was young poverty was very real and has not changed much. After the banks brought the US to its knees hard working people lost their jobs and then the Co.’s found that they could do the same job with less people just work them longer and harder. So talented hard working people are now at McD they are the same hard working ethical people that held the once fair paying jobs. Unless you are living at home with your parents or have no kids or expenses you cannot live on pay from the likes of McD or Wal-Mart so where does that leave these people? Yep we pay for their assistance because the Co.’s won't pay a workable wage and no one in their right mind would say they can’t or they will go broke except for them.

I live in an area where it is feasible to live off of $15k a year for one person. I don't think they would be living comfortably but could definitely make ends meet.

Minimum wage may need to be addressed on a city level rather than Federal.

The CEO of my company will make 15.46 Milliion dollars this year alone. Do I care? No. They pay me and treat me very well. Is it a tad lop-sided? Yes indeed, but what matters in the equation is ME. There are a lot of people in our company who want to get toghther and "make things better" for those of us at what they call the "bottom". These people are the same people who are always complaining that enough isn't being done for them when they have jobs that are far and away better than many will ever have. Essentially, they want someone to hand them something they didn't earn just because someone else has more. Pathetic.

    agree

I work for a local "Donald Trump" who's wealth would blow your mind. It bothers me not that I will never have the resources he has.

I'm happy he allows me to spend the money he does on my projects...and compensates me what my skills/experience are worth while doing so.

Would I like more?...sure. and in time I will receive extra compensation as I take on more or larger projects and responsibility. He is a VERY generous person and treats the entire staff with fairness & class.

I'm 54 years old and still "working my way up"

I'll be 50 in a few days, and I'm not working my way up. I've found a nice little spot where I'm comfy. I'm important, but not too important, they need me, but they could live without me if they had to. I'm respected and known, but I'm still one of the "guys". It's a nice balance.

Well just bring in the I.N.S. and deport all the illegal fast food workers. I don't eat fast food. For all I care shut them all down. The food is poison full of chemicals you don't want to eat anyway.

Nothing wrong with workers fighting for a better living wage. All you goofs who mock them really don't understand or don't respect history.

Ever wonder where the eight-hour work day came from, or why there is a prohibition on child labor?

Here is a little brush up for yall who were high in history class.

To all you idiots complaining a company or business does not pay you enough go get a better job. Walmart or fast food those are transitioning jobs not careers. Its your fault you make no money and have a crap job. Should of got an education so you would not be making minimum wage.
