    Your truck. Your choice.

Respectfully, if you get huge tires you may not like the huge lack of power and will definitely need to re-gear

    I also recommend OVTune

...also goodbye warranty on almost anything you would take it into the dealer for

    Ok I’m done

But if you don’t want a huge headache and just look a little mean... here’s my old setup. I had to cut, but not a ton.

    2.5” front, 2” rear.
    285/75/16 (a 32.8 inch tire)

Depending on what brand lift kit you use the manufacturer will specify what size rim and tire size works as well as the required backspacing. Factory rims will not work.

Bds-suspension.com states 35x12.50 tire with a 18" or larger rim with 4.5" backspacing
    With their 6" kit.

Hope it helps you. Different kits use different specifications. But their web pages will give you all the info for tire and wheel fitment.

Since your husband and you are new to the truck world, please take a minute to really look at the different lift options and in most opinions including mine AVOID a 6'' lift, hell anything more than 3'', as someone else mentioned you'll be cutting into the cross member, cab mount, etc. just to look "cool" or "mean" come trade in time your truck will take a huge hit in value, not worth it, not to mention from an off-road capability aspect you most certainly don't want to go down that route. If you're gonna spend that type of money, look at Kings, Fox Coilovers, some nice SCS wheels or even Volks, some sliders, armor and call it a day. Put the bro truck kool aid down, you and your Tacoma deserve better.

[IMG]Hey I read your questions about a lift, below is a picture of my 2010 Tacoma with a 6 inch lift and 37 inch tires it was good offroad and ok around town but it handled horrible on the highway. I have seen a lot of Tacomas with 3 inch lift and 33 inch tires that look good. Up to you though I hope you and your husband get it the way you want. Take care

Go with the 6" lift and 33s. You could do 35s but that's overkill if you just want it mostly for show.
Don't let these guys convince you to do a 3" lift. 3" lifts help to maximize off-road capabilities so most people on this site have a clone like reflex that only gives 3" lift kit advice.
If you aren't looking to off-road much then a drop bracket lift will do the job and look WAY meaner than a 3" lift.
3" lift with 33s looks like a toy already, so the people saying to go to 35s on a 3" lift are blind, lol.

Edit. With a drop bracket/spindle lift (which is what you'll have to do to achieve 6" lift) you will require 18" rims to clear the new larger spindle. There's a guy at my jobsite that's on a 6" lift with 17" rims but I believe he's using spacers to help the rims clear the spindle. I don't think this is recommended when doing a drop bracket lift.

Ya cut into your $40k truck and ruin its resale so it looks "mean", we are all just idiots here, that 3'' kool aid tastes so good.

Her money. She wants it to look a certain way. You want it to look a different way...so you're paying for it?

By the way, I'm putting a 3" lift on my truck so y'all can accept me back into to your bro party and cool your tits. Hahaha

Ps. Some of us can hold on to things for longer than 3 seconds and don't plan on "re-selling." Damn millennials. Wait, I'm a millennial. Damn idiots. Lol

True, her money and truck, but as she mentioned her and her husband are new to all of this, would hate for her to jump the gun without really doing the research, especially with a drop bracket style lift.

You're cooler than me, last 2 tacos have been stock, my days of 3'' lifts and unnecessary mall crawler mods are over, this old millennial is saving for a house and finishing up grad school.

Copy and paste? She said “mean” and didn’t know where to start, we gave her our thoughts and opinions. Remind us what you’ve contributed to this thread and her question that has any value? Oh wait...
