I have a 2009 Tacoma SR5 with factory tow package. The truck only has 4 pin connector on the back of the truck, the fuse box has spaces with fuses in them for trailer charging, and brakes. So why don't I have a 7 pin connector, are there wires run to the back of the truck for attaching a 7 pin? The dealership said I had to replace the harness for a couple hundred bucks. Why would it be all setup for towing but not have the necessary wires run to the back of the truck? HELP

Why do you say it has factory tow package?

The truck has transmission oil cooler, the larger alternator and battery, and hitch that is mounted to frame and bumper.

Just buy an adapter... It's a much cheaper alternative. My truck came with a 7 pin but my trailer has a 4 pin so I have to use an adapter. There is no winning, all depends on what you are towing...

That's the route I will probably go, however, is the wire for brakes already run from the cab to the back of the truck? I wasn't able to trace it back from the brake controller plug.

That I am not sure on for your truck/stock 4 pin, I would suggest taking it or calling uhaul and asking them. Sometimes the dealership isn't the best place as they are always trying to make money where it may not be necessary.
