What’s your favorite exhaust for 3rd gen Tacoma? I was looking into the Borla.

Run duals with an H pipe and widowmakers.
YouTube has a few clips of these trucks with that setup but with an X pipe so an H pipe I feel would sound way better

mbrp sounds like doodoo. You might as well just sawzall your muffler if you're going that route.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. How does the TRD sound then? Seeing as you have that and not the MBRP.

Sounds pretty nice. Has a nice low grumble at startup and a little growl when you're on the gas. No drone whatsoever when cruising. Just wish it was a little louder though. Makes me think I should have gotten the borla.

My main spec is i want a hi-tuck exhaust, something that dumps under the truck. The MBRP has that option. Otherwise, I would consider a Borla dual exit.

Oh i just noticed you have a 2006. I think the construction on the 3rd gen trd exhaust differs from the 2nd gen so it might sound a little different for you. Also you have a different motor entirely.

I have the borla s-type and like it a lot. Only thing is, is that it drones around 2500-3000. Other than that sounds pretty mean in my opinion.

If you're looking for something that dumps under the truck you could always just chop your OEM tailpipe so that the exhaust dumps right behind the rear axle. I've seen a lot of forum members go that route. If you're looking for sound as well though you could always get the borla single exit and chop the tailpipe the same way.

That could be the way. But is that going to make it too loud?

From what i hear, borla sounds similar to trd cat back. Is that true?

that's subjective, but it will be louder, and depending on your exhaust specs, likely more resonant in the cab.

I just mean, is chopping the stock exhaust going to make it sound like the sh*tbox at the end of the block? I want some more sound, but it's gotta sound good, not like a Honda Civic with no muffler.
