So many great pickers from many different genres.
I like Brian Setzer, great Rockabilly player. Also, Rev Horton Heat ain't bad either!

My neighbor showed me this Australian guy, Tommy Emmanuel. He is a great player. He is a clean, stand alone player.
Here are a couple of his vids, via youtube (not sure how to embed the vid)

Oh, i forgot Doc Watson. In his upper 80's, blind since a child, and can flat out
tear it up. If you ever get a chance to see him and Bill Monroe play, go, b/c it is worth it.

Alex Lifeson (completely underrated and overshadowed by his ultra-talented bandmates)
Eddie Van Halen (the original shredder)
Dave Murray and Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden (best duo in metal)
Alex Skolnick of Testament and Alex Skolnick Trio
Neil Schon of Journey (some of the most melodic solos EVER)
    Jeff Beck
Geordie Walker of Killing Joke (completely unique sound and inspired a lot of musicians. Totally underrated just like his band)

David Gilmour for me as well, the Comfortably Numb version in the Delicate Sound of Thunder album has one of the best solos ever :)
