    Hey all,
Looking to put a skid plate on my Taco (2023) and am wondering should i go with the TRD (oem) or something like the RCI (or if another manufacturer, who)?

    Thanks,

    Alaska Dudeman,
Just making 100% sure before ordering. The TRD skid plate will fit my SR5, correct?

Oem Skid will fit the SR5. May have to remove or trim the chin strap if equipped on yours.

    ETA: Good looking pup.

I put an RCI aluminum on my OR and also have a Pro that came with the TRD and I would choose the RCI aluminum. Much better quality and also looks better. Neither truck does serious off-roading. If you do go RCI steel.

I went cheap knockoff of TRD aluminum. No regrets. It does the job, it looks good, it doesn't weigh a lot, it deflects brush and small rocks.

I went with RCI steel. Love it and I am able to jack up from it too.

My RCI steel has taken some notable punishment. The fact that the steel weighs 40 pounds instead of 20 did not bother me. If you get RCI and add the transmission plate then you can add the catalytic converter guards to that transmission plate ... and they often run sales through the year giving free cat guards with the purchase of the transmission plate.

I'm still on my stock OR plate. Takes a beating and keeps on ticking....

I agree the stock OR plates just mold around the important stuff. :)

RCI is the way to go.

The TRD is pretty, but hit something and it's going to be ugly quick.

OEM TRD plate looks cool, but if you're gonna get a full set of skids then it's kind of pointless because you'll need to go aftermarket for all the others anyhow. Might as well just get a matching set from RCI or CBI or whoever is cool nowadays

This! I have their full steel skids, rear diff skid, and sliders on the tundra. They’re all beefy.

If it's taking a beating, you're not beating on it. It's a splash guard.
