Like many others in this thread have said, I too am a softopper kind of guy. Just fits my needs better and I can use my truck as a truck if I need to in less than 5 minutes. Good luck in your decision OP!

You’ll love it! I get asked about it all the time. I run my softopper year round. Have fun with it.

Leer 100xr. Great during the winter and securely storing campIng gear in the summer. Also have a snug top on my gen 1. Make sure to perform waterproofing measures before installing if you want to keep moisture out.

Another softopper owner here.... they have amazing customer service and the product is awesome! Comes down easy and buttons up in a snap (pun intended). It's honestly very versatile and I like having the options to open the side to grab something quick.

Can you please elaborate on the waterproofing measures that can be taken prior to installation?

You just need to take the time to seal things up. I removed the plastic caps and ran two lines of silicone underneath them. I also removed the metal cap at the front of the bed and sealed the gaps and the entire cap with butyl tape. Before I did all of that I had a LeerXL with double bulb seal that leaked. I sold the Leer to buy an ARE CX because it had windoors. There wasn’t a double bulb seal on the ARE. So I picked up camper shell seal foam from Menards and applied it to the underside of the shell. Unfortunately I still have a tiny leak, it’s very minimal. The turd gen bed design sucks.

My installer used a lot of RTV underneath the entire front rail and the two front corners. The interior stays dry in rain or snow. The windows and rear door do not leak either.

I know that the taller toppers aren't for everyone when it comes to looks, but I'm more concerned about functionality. Love my ARE MX. The Mrs. and I throw a twin mattress in back, and we're ready to camp anywhere in any weather. None of this rooftop tent bullshit catching all of the wind.

Plus, I think it looks pretty good.

It is one of the lower cost options from LEER. It has the old style double T-handles instead of the one latch in the center.

I like it because its less prone to failure/simple design. Also, I personally like the look of it.
