Well - your poll isn't that relevant if you're looking for a 30-37 inch - plasma is out for that size... and brands are a bit overrated as often they vary within the brand - so narrowing it to a specific size (example - is 40" too big? remember that many people regret not moving up in size on flat panels). you may very well have strict size requirements - i'd recommend moving to the largest you can within that parameter.

The LED is the backlight lol. The choice still is LCD or Plasma. It really depends on what you do with your television. If you are a gamer or a havy movie watcher then I'd say LCD all the way.

Samsung IMHO is the best. My cousin swore up and down about the Bravia and paid 4,000 for a 55 inch, I paid 1200 for a 40" Samsung 120hz and my still works like new (3 years old) and his is all jacked up (3 years old).

I hate buying foreign products but with televisions you have no choice. I will forever go with Samsung unless they prove me other wise. Make sure you get atleast 120 hz if not 240!

Under 42", get an LCD no question. OLED, or LED is an LCD with LED's as the backlight, better color/light distribution with LED's, they usually run cooler and save energy. LCD's look good from about a 40 degree wedge sitting directly in front, other than that they look distorted/blurred.

Plasmas are great for watching television if there's going to be a lot of people around the tv. They show blacks better and you can see the picture on the tv from almost every angle.

Brand is often a moot point and usually a preference. Some brands have perks of ease of use, such as sony bravia, you can link other bravia components seamlessly. Others will provide the more crisp high end picture, Panasonic Viera's new models are stunning.

I had a Protron given to me for rent money, and I got really lucky, it's a 720P 60 Hz 32 inch LCD and it looks fantastic. Side by side with a 120Hz, 1080p 42" LG TV, the Protron looks better no question. The remote control and the menu functions on the Protron are terrible, but the picture is top notch.

TV's and monitors are kind of like shoes, they're hard to order online because you really have to "try them on" especially since you're spending so much money.

    Good luck in your choice.

    Cheers,

    Jake

I didn't need a flat TV so I got a LED DLP for half the price of a LCD/Plasma's and it rocks!

I have a 42" panasonic plasma and a 67" samsung LED DLP. Love them both!

My next tv that will replace the 42" will probably a 60, 70, or 80 inch sharp quattron. My parents have the 60" and it's a nice looking set!

If you can't afford an LED I would get an LCD.
