So my friend came over and we had a little Scotch tasting as we were watching football and tried these three gems. For the record the Blue was still the best, however I would not throw the other two out.:D

I posted the Hirsch as my favorite a few pages back, and HANDS DOWN is an understatement, I wish I could afford another bottle.

On the other hand I bought a Pappy Van Winkle 20 all excited to be blown away and unfortunately the bottle I got was seriously overpowered by acetone fingernail polish remover aroma, real bummer.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
Anyone know of a good distillery in the Greater Scottsboro Alabama Metropolitan Area (within 50-60 miles)? I've been to Lynchburg and would like to cjeck out another one if nearby.

    So many good drinks.
Right now, I'm working on a bottle of Cragganmore 12year single malt.

Very smooth... but at $56, it won't be a regular.

Can't beat some good ole shine, though. Doesn't get better than straight from the still into a mason jar, into my tummy.

    LOL!

You do have a point though.

When I first saw those at BevMo, I thought "wonderful, that's a DUI and easy to pitch"

And for the most part, it's probably true. I'm a traffic signal tech, and I'm ALWAYS picking those little bottles up from the sidewalk around my equipment....

But last trip to BevMo, I took a look at the display, and thought "Hmm... this is actually a good (if not economical) idea for samplers. I can spend $2/3/4 on a "shot"... it's cheaper than a bar, and decide if I want to drop $20+ on a bottle"

I decided that the Jack Daniels Honey is actually pretty good! I brew Meade, and my last batch came out about 17%, but this stuff was GOOD and SMOOTH!

Still haven't bought a bottle, but it's a whiskey that SWMBO would probably like... and she's more a "Southern Comfort at the strongest" kinda lady.
