Which then absolutely kills the taste. I tried the whiskey stones for a while and they just don't cool it and make it annoying to drink with the fuckers rolling around in the glass.

@KRAMERICA If I want it on the rocks I have a mold for spheres and just use a single sphere anymore and it's more than enough.

Was at a work happy hour last night and found this in the cabinet even though I’m not a big Scotch guy.

The sherry cask helped dilute the peatiness that I usually dislike in most scotches. I gotta give them some rec’s on some better shit to stock in the office.

I'm not clear on what the cooler is for, but I've got ice trays. They work but dilute the whiskey as they melt. I'm a sipper and a slow one at that. Ice tends to ruin a drink halfway through it. A diluted whiskey is kind of like drinking a flat soda. :puke:

It might come down to just drinking it neat. I decided to try the option of the stones after liking the whiskey on the tasting tours but not liking it as much on the rocks when I got home. I like my drinks chilled but not watered down. I usually take my beer from the refrigerator and put it in the freezer for 20 minutes before drinking it to get that crisp cold taste of 29° beer. I might have to try it with the whiskey to see how it changes the taste.

I've got large square and sphere ice molds. I suppose another option would be to put the ice in my drink and let it cool for 15-20 min, and then take it out.:notsure:

Never tried this but seems like it might be an option. Especially if you start off cold from the fridge/freezer it might help maintain without watering down?

I also have a vacuum insulated glencairn style glass. I dunno how well it works for cold because I usually drink neat. I just have it because it's durable enough to throw in my suitcase when I travel

Maybe try something like this. Might be a glass version out there...

    https://www.amazon.com/Host-Wine-Fr...ed4-b875-a6778973862e&pd_rd_i=B00CH67Y54&th=1

Edit - didn't see @VXEric had a similar idea. Products offer slightly different methods (and costs!).

I believe Joey is referring to the top-down/directional freezing method. When done properly, it makes clear ice blocks which you can then break to fit your glass. Clear ice tends to melt much slower due to lack of impurities and bubbles.

This is expensive but a neat idea. I really like the Chiller as well.

I might try this just because it is cheaper. If it doesn't work my Mom may like them for her wine.

Interesting, I've not heard of this before, but it does make sense. I'll have to look around but think I've got a cooler that will work to try this. Probably use the water from my zerowater pitcher.

This does help too. There are a few kits on Amazon and other places that have a foam surround and a reservoir to help get super clear ice. I think my kit was around $35-40. Even if it doesn't work for what you want there's still a cool factor to having super clear ice for guest's cocktails

I have that same bottle! I don't think I'll ever open it, though, as I'm not a huge fan of rye. I bought it for shits and giggles, because it was on sale.

    I have one, it's open, it's delicious.

Also have a Willett 4yr open right now which is quite fine as well.

yes this! Thank you I guess I was vague

This has been the best compromise in my opinion. Those kits can be expensive and disappointing. I have a cheapo Coleman cooler, ripped the lid off and fill with hot tap water. My freezer seems to like the 18 hour mark. Taker her out chop chop and put your cubes back in the freezer

it’s actually really fun making different shapes sizes

if you like your wiskey diluted as little as possible just do smaller pours
