I would be curious to hear what you think of the White Dog. It’s essentially moonshine. The only thing I could make work with it is a high octane whiskey sour.

I probably should have ordered a few, but then I'd have to kill a few in my cabinet to make room for them!

Have you done a direct comparison next to a regular glen? I'd be curious to know how that shakes out.

For me, I just like the feel of them compared to the regular. I haven’t done a taste test at this point. But I’ll do that, maybe this weekend. I just like the size, just fits my hand perfectly! And, I do know he has some left, because I reached out after receiving my first order and asked for additional glasses :) so, give him a shout! You can never have too many :)

The Cannucks seem to be better at Glencairns than us. Quickly becoming my go-to glass.

Dunno about the impact they have on the nose but I agree on the feel. The regular Glencairns feel like shot glasses and give me flashbacks of my youth. The apologetic glasses are closer to a highball but with some sexy curves

This bottle’s been open for a few months now. It’s really mellowed out to something rather delicious, even though it was good to start.

What I like most about whiskey is that the way it tastes is only the second most important thing about it. Under the right circumstances a good pour is part of a connection with friends and family, and marks your memories with an association with a particular bottle. I feel like whiskey can do that because it comes out of a barrel with a unique story to tell each time, unlike many other spirits. And it tells that story to everyone gathered around the table.

The best experiences with whiskey are the unexpected ones, like today during lunch with @jandrews and the family. Upon perusal of the restaurant’s consistently outstanding selection, there still sat the heel of a Stagg Jr. that we first tried well back into last year.

Seeing the bottle almost vertical as she tried to eke out only a single pour, the bartender shrugged and emptied what was close to a triple into a glass for me for $15. Closed out the bottle.

Unbelievable how smooth 130 proof can be, and the wife agreed as she sampled it.

This time I asked to keep the topper in time before it went in the trash. I keep them in a glass bowl in my office, and from time to time sift through the growing pile, remembering the stories each bottle told.

Did a toasted/double oak blind with my lady tonight. This was her order left to right. Mine switched the ECTB and the Michter's. Both agreed the WFDO had a weird aftertaste, which is funny because I have had quite a bit of it in bars over the last year and enjoyed it.

Working my way through this. I really don't enjoy wine or port finished whiskey. It's just not my thing. IMG_8727.jpg

If you have a deadline and it's an important gift, sucking up the price for secondary market purchase almost always makes the most sense.
