Keep telling myself I'm just gonna stick to Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. Keep branching out. Keep wishing I'd just bought EW. Anyways, this is good, it's a high corn mashbill which I love. A little on the harsh side though. Could have saved $10.

Now this is absolutely delicious! A local distillery using what used to be an almost extinct version of corn. Of course I love it because it's 100% corn whiskey using Jimmy Red corn. Not cheap at $90 though.

Few years back I did a glaze/bbq sauce using some makers. I started with a base good BBQ sauce recipe added a good amount of makers in it and then reduced it all. Nice flavor, used it for BBQ, steaks (little glaze at the end) and some other things. Down side is it has to be used faster because of the lack of all the preservatives in commercial stuff but to me that's just an excuse to have to use it more. :)

sounds good! I’ll try that on some ribs.
For Ribeyes all I use is salt, pepper and a red hot cast iron pan. A nice outer crust with hints of salt and a medium rare interior is the best.

    So. Damn. Good.

Some people bitch that it used to be cheaper, but I think with the bourbon market as it is right now, this is the king for under $100.

Cheers folks! Breaking in my WTF glass with a special pour. Today marks 12 years at my job. Started off entry level with no idea what the industry even was. 12 years and 4 promotions later I have made my name and later this year should publish a standard with my name as Chair.

Knob Creek 12 to celebrate at the suggestion of a number of you fine whiskey lovers!

I 'bitch' because quality has gone down along with the price increase, but you're right - that is usually the case with the bourbon market right now.

    Congrats on the anniversary!

12 yo KC is one of the best beam offerings out there IMO

    I'm skeptical.

I think people just want to complain a lot. Booker'a varies of course, but every batch I've tried has been top tier bourbon.

Value for dollar is a trickier subject I won't bother with.

So you're saying we shouldn't acknowledge a product's diminishing taste and value because it's fun to complain

You know as well as anyone that taste is very subjective. I'm not saying any of the batches have been bad, but over the last five years or so there has been an increasing number of less than 'top tier' batches IMO. Maybe I'm getting bad bottles, maybe my tastes have changed, or maybe you're just drinking too much Booker's and it's your favorite (a good problem to have tbh).
