Thoughts on Penelope Toasted? Popped up on the base near me, never been seen in the area before.

Went to total wine to restock the wife’s wine collection. Of course made a stop in the bourbon aisle and found these three bottles to add for me :) OMG today wasn’t a cheap stop! But excited for the ECs to go with the A123 and Toasted Barrel bottles I have.

The MM BEP is really good - it’s what I cracked open tonight. Want to see how it is after opening and into the bottle a bit.

Anyone ever been involved with a barrel pick? I’m researching for a BBQ group I’m apart of…thought it would be cool to do a barrel pick. I know some of the larger distilleries do this, but curious if anyone has done this before?

If so - if people are all over the country, how did they get their bottle?

    Thanks!

It’s done through a liquor store, who distributes it to the participants via direct sales. You need a store owner on board to get started. As for folks not local to the store, rules vary for shipping and depends on state shipping to and from.

Hey gang, I reached out to Maker's, but they said they don't track bottles once they're distributed. A dear friend and mentor of mine is about to retire from the military.. he's a huge Maker's fan so I'm trying to get my hands on something for him that was bottled or barreled in the year he joined - 2004. If anyone has anything laying around, I'd appreciate if you'd let me pay you to take it off your hands.

went to the grocery store today to get a couple avocados….noticed a couple tables set up by liquor isles with some women handing out samples….don’t mind if I do

one table has some Malibu, the other more attractive table had some whiskey set up. They whiskey was one I never heard of before and was new to the store so I took a couple shots. It was called “Dads Hat Pensilvania Rye Whiskey”
There was 90, 94, 95, and 100 proofs on the table. I tried all of em. All really sweet after taste. Woman said it’s often used for cocktails.

    I love free whiskey

ECBP and Larceny BP B523 landed here today.

This ECBP release is a unique moment in the line's history, as it is the first time they have deviated below the 12yr age statement.

Early reviews say it's a banger with a lot of nuts and graham cracker, so perhaps age flexibility is a good thing as long as it's not eventually abused.

A lil this a lil that.
No longer full of SR, I love this bottle as my vacation flask. Right now it’s partially full of larceny barrel proof and woodford masters collection.

Lately I've been working on some 'hit list' bottles that have been around a while that I don't want to move to smaller containers for long term sipping. Their days are numbered.

At the top of the list are these two beautiful expressions that I'm thankful to have backups for.

Word on the street is that this year's C batch may be presented over the 13 yo mark.

My ABC state's ECPB picks dropped last weekend and they are all aged a year older than last year's picks, which I find interesting.

I can't wait to get ahold of that B523 to see what it's all about.

"There’s already been some rumors that Heaven Hill is readying a 13 year old batch for September. I’m actually confident that will happen. Then January 2024 will see a return to 12 year and then after that, it’s going to be a game where Heaven Hill will give enthusiasts one really old batch per year and two younger ones."

That's the prediction anyway. Realistic to my mind.
