I imagine so. Would be interesting to see the terms that are in place.

I think I'm mistaken on this sample. While it does taste a lot like some other pre-fire Heaven Hill I've tried, it turns out this sample was barreled in '79 and bottled in '94. I incorrectly thought it was barreled in '94.

This could have very well been some of the last distillate from Hoffman Distillery that closed in '79 during the bourbon market crash. Four years later that distillery was purchased by Julian Van Winkle III to bottle his whiskeys before partnering with Buffalo Trace in the early 2000s.

Bottle kill on KC12 tonight...punches way above its weight and proof.

Buy a couple before beam realizes they can get away with charging $100+ for this stuff.

I bought a bottle of this today. Missed a chance last week in Denver, but stopped by my local spot today and they had it. So back up to the 1/4 bottle I have left.

And yes, need to buy when you see it!

Stumbled upon a couple bottles I haven't had before.

Had 1 taste of the EC Toasted Barrel and it's real nice. Haven't popped the EH Taylor yet.

Tonight I'm on an Aberlour single barrel, 17yo 117.6 proof. This one drinks over its age, but maybe I'm just used to all of the NAS nonsense in the Scotch world.

Wish I could find cask strength scotches here. Very rare. Same for Irish.

Same. I'm extremely grateful for the generosity of my friends. I've been drinking mostly bourbon lately to ration my CS Scotch stash that moved with me from TX to ID two and a half years ago. I have been lucky enough to find a Highland Park CS here, but that's pretty much it.

My area just got a load of Redbreast CS (praise be). I stocked up. It's amazing.

I have yet to find a CS Scotch in my local ABC aside from Octomore releases.

Nice! RB is great stuff, I'm jealous!

Octomores are fantastic, but that price of admission can be tough to swallow - along with the PPM if it's not your thing.

I dig peated Scotch...but Im not sure Octies are 4x better than Port Charlotte. Might have to snag one next time I see it and find out for myself.

So I doddle into my local ABC today (doddling is what I do on my days off), and they have the full Redwood Empire line shelved, including the cask strengths.

    20230630_103359.jpg

So I figure "why not, let's get the set". Pipe Dream bourbon, Emerald Giant rye, and Lost Monarch which is labeled as a "blend of straight whiskies".

"Which whiskies?" I wonder. Turns out, it's a Bourye:

The internet tells me good things about these guys. Looking forward to investigating for myself.

I may have to start doddling on up to my local ABC! Thats a killer find. Hell, I'd be stoked to come across one of them let alone all three.

I picked up a bottle of that EC for the first time the other day, I thought it was pretty good.
